SA build by May 1st?
I ordered a 340i from my local dealer and they told me it would be here by May 1st LATEST 2nd week in may. I just got off the phone with the BMW geniuses and they told me that is absolutely impossible.
It's a South African build that finished production 4/7/17. It has been "turned over" to the shipper and should be getting on a boat in the next few days. The genius said that i could be up to 8 weeks at sea and I probably won't see the vehicle until July at the earliest. Is the Genius correct? If so, should I cancel my order? I am currently without a vehicle and cannot wait until July for a new one. (currently borrowing a car right now from a family member) |

thanks. It has MPPSK also which I was super excited about. I really cannot wait until mid june/july to drive it though. It's prime time right now. Only issue is I don't know what else to get if I cancel this.

well as Blubaron said you might be able to get a loaner from them, especially if they are misrepresenting your expected delivery date.
If there are existing builds out there maybe go for one of those and have the stealership add the MPPSK from there? Id scan Cars.com and ask the dealer to run an internal inventory search with your exact builds and they can do a dealer swap if they find it. I'm still on a M235i lease thru late May, so my wait hasn't been a problem. Also SA builds have been known to be less faulty than German builds.

I would listen to what the BMW Genius told you. To give you some reference (from my own experience), my 340 is also a SA build. Production finished 9/30/15 and I didn't take delivery until 12/3/2015. I also live on Long Island. 8-10 weeks seems accurate for shipping to the East Coast from Rosslyn. Hope this helps.

Technically the car doesn't have the MPPSK yet . So you should find an already-built car you want and ask the dealership to add the MPPSK for you.

Yep. Ask the dealer to trade for another, or just try to get a temp loaner.

Dealer is trying to tell me that their distribution rep is telling them it will be in the USA by may 15th. I'm going to try and get a loaner from May 1st on to whenever it gets here.

Because the car is definitely arriving after May 30th (They finally acknowledged it was going to happen) they agreed to pay for any differences in the lease incentives that will be expiring. I ordered the car with march incentives.
Funny story though they were very excited to offer me a discounted rate of $30/day with Hertz rent-a-car because I need a car by May 1st like they assured me I would have... I'm so pissed right now I just want to go buy a different car but I went to 2 different dealers and cannot find a car that I want in the place of the one I ordered. |

Very sorry you are having this trouble ... all I can say is if you eventually wind up in the ordered 340 I think you will love it, the B58 is an impressive motor with great potential.

It sounds like the dealer is wiling to work with you. If the MPPSK is included in your order, the car will be shipped SA to the port in Jersey, where the MPPSK will be added at the VPC. My 340 was a SA build, production completed 11/22, arrived at the VPC 1/23, didn't leave the VPC till 1/27, picked it up at the Performance Center 2/13.

Walk buddy,
he's earning commission from you. Don't do it. You will find another car, & rentals are easily booked from 10 bucks a day so don't even think about paying 30. He is taking the piss. |

•Dealer says that they cannot discount MPPSK and that PIA options are always MSRP and there is nothing they can do about it
This is not true mine will be port installed on the 2018 440 & delivered through the PCD. Was added to the cars pricing at $2700 (invoice?) before total discounts on the car were taken. The 435 port installed MPPK was also discounted in 2014. BTW Anyone at the end of a lease waiting for an ordered car to show up should ask BMW Financial for a month by month extension till the car is deliverd.

66k MSRP which is +$2635 then original and they are willing to do it for $2 less per month. THE ONLY issue is that the interior trim is not the aluminum like I chose its the ugly brown wood (sorry for anyone who has brown wood). It kills me because its such a sporty car and then you go and put brown wood inside of it. |

My 2 cents:
You've waited this long so far for a car that was spec'd exactly as you wanted it. Right? Don't compromise yet. Get the phone number of the the dealer's general manager, then call him/her and calmly explain your situation. Don't throw the CA under the bus, just respectfully ask for a loaner...if you're reasonable, they should be too. Looking at maybe 6 weeks of loaner? I would think that wouldn't be a big deal to them. If you get nowhere with the manager, then call BMWNA customer service and explain the situation. They can also put pressure on the dealer. 1-800-831-1117 |

I feel like you should cancel your order and go get the other car (if you can stand the wood). You will save much more time and energy, and you will skip the hassle of trying to get a loaner and trying to find out when your car will be delivered.
