Enhanced vs Essential Premium Package

Hello all!
I'm in the final steps of placing an order for my 2018 440i xdrive coupe LCI and so far this is what I have as specs: 440i xdrive coupe, 6MT, Glacier Sivler ext, Dakota red int, carbon aluminum trim, M performance pack I & II.

Concerning the last of the packages I just had a question about the enhanced vs essential packs. For me the essential is plentiful as I am not huge on having lots of tech in the car. However, when I look at the enhanced pack, the only item that I find useful for me to have on would be the HK surround sound system (which I'm not sure why is not a standard option on the 440 as it is on the 340).

My question is in two parts: 1. is the HK system significantly better or a must have when compared to the standard sound system, and 2. if it is significantly better, do you find the price increase for enhanced package worth the money if really only the sound system is what is going to be used (and maybe surround view, although I tend to think of myself as good parker ).
Thank you!

Extra info: In Canada essential is $3.5k and enhanced is $6k.

If you plan to listen to more than fm radio, you care about audio quality, and you don't plan to replace the system with an after market like bavsound then get the hk

The HK sound is very good IMO, but I am not an expert. I have enhanced, and I was surprised at how much I like the Head Up Display, and the electronic nannies in heavy city traffic. Just returned from a 10000 km trip to southern CA and AZ, and I appreciated every one of the nannies, and enjoyed the HK (I find the sound better than any of my previous BMW systems for me, with a hearing impairment).

Woah those options kind of suck but that is the price you live for living in Canada. The HK is a must as the other stereo sounds like an old clock radio.

But in all honesty reviewing your options you had me at 6MT. I hope there's some type of adaptive suspension thrown in with that. Add a cool color and some nice leather and those are all the options you need

Am assuming (uh oh) the HK audio system within the 440i is the same as within the 435i and it is kinda tragic as am a musician/studio/engineer guy. Unhooked the center channel as the phase/timing is horrid and replaced the front door speakers with Focal (BMW spec) and plan to add a powered sub (Bazooka bass tube as it is easy to remove when i need added trunk room. If you enjoy quality deep bass (below 60Hz), you'll need a powered sub or sub and amp plus the Technic PnP / Audiocontrol adapter.

Might change the rear seat and back speakers with Focal as am still paying around with the audio setup as just got the 435i a few weeks ago so am taking it piecemeal, listening, then making any changes to improve the audio accuracy/quality.

Head up display alone is worth it. But yes HK is a great system and way better than the base

I hate the fogs too, they ruin the look of the car. Not sure if they can be removed from the packages but there are quite a few members here who've successfully managed to remove the fogs

From the Canadian Ordering guide: "2NH will delete 5A1 from the order"
So the M sport brakes part of the M Perf Pack will delete the fog lights

Also you need to order the adaptive led lights with the enhanced pack, does not come with the package. But that too will delete the fogs.

Guess I got my answer!

Definitely doing the right thing by going with Enhanced

Us Canadians had more choice before 2016 models, where they decided to bundle almost all options into 1 package which is annoying. I'm surprised to hear you need to get Adaptive LED with the Enhanced package but you want those anyways, I love mine.

I hate how they put so many restrictions/requirements but I guess that's how they make money...

Exactly so what am I really getting then if the app doesn't work? The HK sound system and that's it? The HUD and digital dash aren't even guaranteed to come together, this is from the ordering guide:

Multifunction Digital Instrument Display (Option Code – 6WB).*
The 4 Series LCI refresh also features an available Full Digital Multifunctional Instrument Display, giving the driver the choice of different visualization options for all displays depending on the driving experience mode selected.

*Note: The combination of 6WB Digital Instrument Display and 610 Head-up Display is temporarily restricted from the factory. Premium Package Enhanced will have the option of choosing either feature for March production. Please reference Product Order Guides for further details.*

The BMW Remote app works. You can do things like locate your car if you have location enabled on the car, you can remotely lock/unlock the car, flash the headlights, engage the horn and run the ventilation system.

The fully digital cluster looks cool but the HUD is really more function to be honest... you may have a different opinion. Sucks that you can't get both... they need to remove that restriction.

You also get 3 years traffic info and 1 year free internet (which I never used)

Is there a restriction on the amount of data that you can use monthly for the BMW wifi in Canada?

No idea if there's a restriction but I had it for a year when I first got my car... I never used it except to try it out. They probably reduce your bandwidth the more you use it, I never read the fine print since I didn't need to.

I don't see how this functionality is worthwhile if you have data on your phone which is a lot more intuitive to use.
