Question about transmission wear in sport mode
This question pertains to anyone with an automatic F3x - do you think there is any risk of significant added wear to the transmission by riding in sport mode 90% of the time? Comfort is nice for commuter traffic in the morning, but I'll even flip it into sport mode for parts of my morning commute. Weekends I'm in sport 100% of the time. I'm in an F32 428xi now, but I just left my E92 335i which had far more power in what we would call "comfort" mode now - so I would ride in that most of the time, and only go into sport mode for "spirited" driving. In the 428xi, I love the personality of the car in sport - its quick, fun to drive, sounds better, steering seems to tighten up ever so slightly etc. Comfort is just too muted.
Just looking for some insight.

The main thing that will suffer in Sport is your gas mileage, because the RPMs are always higher. The transmission and engine wear and tear will be somewhat increased as well, because both are doing more work per mile traveled. I wouldn't be too concerned.

I guess I'll just keep driving in sport, and keep my accelerations smooth and let the car to the rest. I'm paying for it, so I might as well enjoy it everyday I guess.

No the clutch packs locking faster & not slipping is less wearing on them. No different than the added wear you cause slipping a manual transmission clutch.

I drive mostly city driving with it in Sport mode almost 100% of the time. Car is much better that way. I doubt there is anything to be concerned about. About the only time I have it in Comfort mode is when I'm cruising along on the freeway with little traffic - and really only to help with gas mileage.

Been ripping it in Sport mode since 2014 with a tuned car. You should be good, enjoy it

Just keep in mind that you're not driving a Toyota or Chevrolet...every component in a BMW is designed for all of the features it has, including the driving modes. How you drive it and maintain it, not what mode you're in, determines how quickly the components will wear out.

Turn on car...hit sport button...transmission in sport...been like that for 2 years of driving with zero issues, if the car couldn't handle sport mode they wouldn't have added it...I wouldn't worry at all
