How do I tell where my car was built?
I hear a lot about build origin (i.e. Germany).
How do I tell where my 2017 430 was built? Is it a VIN thing? |

Yes VIN thing particularly the first 3 characters. One thing is for certain, it wasn't built in Mexico. Yet...
Also the window sticker will give evidence of origin. |

It's nice to know were it's built, but honestly there are as many reported quality issues with the German built F30s as there are with the South Africa built ones. Some might argue that there are LESS issues with the South Africa build F30s. Either way, I wouldn't put much weight on your build location. Your car will either have these small issues or they won't.

It really comes down to luck....even the most reliable models/brands will have lemons and even the most unreliable ones have use cases that last 100k+ miles with minimal issues.
At the end of the day, if the QA is good enough, it shouldn't matter where it was built. |
