Anyone tried Dinantronics Stage 1 for B58?

Has anyone installed the Dinantronics Stage 1 on their B58? I'm trying to decide between the Dinan or MPPSK. I want more power, which is better option?

Does anyone know if Dinan lets us install the stage 1 ourselves and still keep the warranty? I tried contacting Dinan several times, no reply from them.

I couldn't find any reviews on the Dinantronics Stage 1 for B58, if there's anything already out there please point me to it.

Thanks!

I installed the Dinan stage 1 on my 17 340 MT. Local dealer is a Dinan shop so I had them do the install. Have about two weeks experience with it. Probably my imagination but it seems to get faster every day. What I really like about it is that the torque increase starts at very low rpm, so for normal around town driving I barely have to push the pedal for the car to move briskly and usually use only 2, 4 and 6. I am surprised how much it changed the whole driving character of the car. I did not want to sacrifice a quiet interior with the BMW m package exhaust system so the Dinan was appealing in that I could get the same or better performance increase with no exhaust change and it was half the price. Very satisfied with the stage 1, money well spent.

I too had dinan stage 1 put in not too long ago. At first I did not really notice it. In normal driving it feels amost the same. The difference is really when you put it in sport mode and floor it. It keeps up the acceleration noticably than stock at higher speeds and keeps pulling. Its well worth the drivability, oem+ feeling, and peace of mind and not having to take it off when I go in for service. Having used other stage 1 tunes before on my other cars and running into CEL and other issues, I would say the dinan is solid. Also, I like how they dropped the price relative to the N55 otherwise I would have just tried my luck elsewhere again.

I thoroughly felt out the vehicle before I had mine installed this week to ensure I would notice a difference even if it was subtle. Even after a few days I FEEL it. It is beautiful. But the beauty is that the drivability is still completely in tact going to and from work in town. Really pulls hard in 3-4K rpm. Excited for more releases from Dinan for th b58.

My BMW dealer told me yesterday that if I had the Dinan stage 1 installed, the only drawback was if BMW had any emissions software updates, it may affect my ECU programming. This doesn't make much sense to me, I thought that BMW would recognize the Dinan ECU and not try to reprogram it. I always assumed BMW code wasn't compatible with Dinan hardware anyways.

It's a piggyback tune not an ecu flash tune. The old Dinan tunes would flash the ECU, but that was 2 generations of car ago. Dealer can't reprogram the Dinan tune and many have taken their cars in with other piggybacks and not had issues with software updates, so don't know why this would be any different, dealer probably not too knowledgeable.

Mppsk flash tune Dinan piggyback tune. From what I've read a flash tune > piggyback. Also why not stack em? The elite supports Mppsk.

Stacking to tune without the appropriate map is a waste of time and money in my opinion.
It only works when you are using an appropriate back end flash

As long you did not cause any damages to the tune or car during the install you can have the tune installed anywhere and keep the warranty

Did it take a while to start working? I just had stage 1 Dinan installed on my 2016 340i AT and I'm not noticing any difference. He said to drive it hard for the first 200 miles - did yours not start working until after that?

I downloaded the app and made sure I was on the "Stage 1" setting and not the "Bypass".

Kinda pissed off right now.

I've never quite understood why you have to "drive it hard for the first 200 miles" to get the full power benefits. I'd rather get the power right out of the box. I bet that if you pressed him to tell you why you need to drive hard for 200 miles, you would probably get a pretty fuzzy answer.

My feelings are that you're probably getting the power. 10-15% power gains aren't that much compared to what you're already getting with the stock engine. If you were to remove the Stage 1 you'd probably notice it then.

Make sure its set to stage 1 in the bluetooth app. First noticed improved throttle response in comfort mode after a few days. Its so smooth its hard to tell unless you turn it off after using it for a while

Yeah I did get a fuzzy answer - he said it needed to learn about my driving habits. Uhhhh right. So if I'm going to and from work like a sane person I negate the affect of the Stage 1? Makes no sense.

I guess I'll have to shut it off after a few days and see if I notice the lack. Sad if that's the case.

Honestly I was pretty wicked bummed to find out that Dinan puts the stock crank HP at 380 then says it does 412 with the stage 1. All I saw was the 412 number and assumed it was wheel hp after the tune. So I was hoping to go from 320 wheel (lots of people have posted that) to 412 wheel. Crapola. No way in hell I would have spent $1700 with install on bloody 40 CRANK hp.

Still pissed. Hoping it improves like they say it will. Which is also ridiculous that it wouldn't add the boost right away.

Those with 340's - just enjoy the car for what it is. If you want nutso-power get an M3 and tune that bastard to the gills.

Had mine installed in April and noticed an immediate difference. My dealer did say it could take 100 miles or so for the tune to take full effect due to adjustments the piggyback tune was making.

Mine caused check engine lights for days. Every once and awhile it would stutter and feel like it's running out of gas.

After over 2 months of the dealer and me going back and forth they finally took it off. For the last 500 miles without it installed the car has been perfectly fine.

Trying to get dinan on the phone to accept responsibility for this has been a nightmare. Nobody answers the phone live and they always want to call you back or blame something else.

Granted I have a 240i MT, but the first drive immediately after install the tune made its presence known - the car was stronger immediately, and very smooth.

That was just last gen, the e9x had a flash tune from dinan

I just installed the Stage 1 on my 2017 BMW 340i.
WOW! This is so worth the money!
I see some people saying they don't feel it...but are driving in comfort mode...

I don't understand that. Put it in Sport or better yet, Sport+ and put your right foot down at 3500 rpm. Try to pull your head off the headrest and tell me that doesn't make a huge difference!

Headed out to VIR this weekend to give it a thorough run through.

But in the 24 hrs that I have had it installed, I love it!
