[Looking for] 2014 328D US Tune?

Trying to find a decent tune for my 2014 328D? It just hit 65,000 miles so it's off warranty. This is my full driver car so I cram the miles on it, and I'm going to drive it into the ground. However, for now I'm looking for a nice HP upgrade.

Dinan is finishing up their tune. There are others, if you search. Might search for 320d also as that's what most EU-based tunes list.

Yes, the US 328d is a 320d everywhere else in the world.

Your best bet is to wait for Dinan. The euro 320d tunes won't work on our cars because of the added emissions. Our cars are not "true" 320d's because of the cooling system. If I remember right, we have the cooling system off of the 325d as well as some internal parts as well. I've pieced together some parts that will probably give you some more power, and since you're out of warranty, I also have found a full exhaust delete from the DPF back, you will just have to find out how to remap the engine for the O2 sensors, and figure out how to code or remap for the DEF delete.

Forgot about that. Our 328d cars actually have the cooling and a couple other pieces from the European diesel Performance Package.

I believe that the Racelogic piggyback works on our cars.

Theoretically yes, but it's still in the test phases, so it may be awhile before the final product is available.

For those wanting a bit more info, there's a thread on e90post in the diesel subforum where an engineer from Dinan is talking a fair bit about it for the 328d: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1323353

30hp/50tq; not selling yet as waiting for CARB approval, looks like.

We are looking for a test car to build a software tune for the US Spec 328d. We just finished up with our stage 1 tune for the n57 535d US SPEC.

Check out our e90 335d stuff on the sub thread for more info about us
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1249989

We are looking to do the same things with the n47, ABC delete, meth injection kits, hybrid turbo and more

It is also for the US engine. Anyone can call them to confirm. The engine is N47D20O1

The price difference reflects how risk averse you are in terms of how they make more power. Just read the details. I've used (but no longer use) tuning boxes which basically fool DDE and increases the rail pressure.

Steinbauer, Hartge, Kellener, AC Schnitzer are all basically the same system and use the same tech as described in the link I posted earlier.

It's great that there's a company offering a $300 box for people who want that. I'm just not one of them with a car that's under warranty.

I've attached some info I gathered from Schnitzer which is the same box as Steinbauer.

I'll be trying it on my X5d since that's out of warranty and post results at some point. I have a racelogic to document the numbers.

I also found Dinan's warranty disclaimer very interesting from a company that used to boast about its warranty:

"WARRANTY: DINANTRONICS Sport does not carry the factory matching warranty that Dinan is known for. DINANTRONICS Sport's warranty is a 1 year product only warranty that does not cover consequential damages or labor reimbursement."

Anyone know anything about the Chipwerke piggyback module out of Cali?
They have a unit for the 328d.

Garage List
I've been 'round the block for the past 2+ years studying the various German PBs and this is where I ended up:

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1299267

Just check my posting history if you want to follow my thought process as I worked through the decision tree...

This is something I posted a few days ago about the new Dinan PB:

"At first, when I heard about this $249 deal from Dinan I kicked myself for paying around one grand for a bench tune (= ECU flash) up at Jarek's at JR Auto Performance in Oakville, Ontario. And then I thought to myself...sheeit, for $249 what are they going to get, a fuel rail booster? Yep, and that's what you get. And no engine warranty with Dinan to pay for BMW's salvage work in case there's an issue. (There's a reason that Dinan won't include their usual warranty on this little piggyback--yep, you guessed it!--because it's a fuel rail booster for $249!) A fuel rail booster is what it is, and the word "Dinan" doesn't make it magic. You'd best do your homework and make a rational decision before you get yourself some cheap power for your $50K car. Chances are that you'll be fine...chance being what it is, that is.

Yes, I paid another $750 for a custom tune, and I'm glad I did. The engine performance is just what I'd hoped it would be: Greatly decreased turbo lag, way more "take" down low, even and smooth acceleration all the way to the high end, much improved acceleration at the high end, and nary a hiccough along the way at any time.

Here's the story of my custom tune: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1299267"
