To install these you have to break off the mirror tabs in the mirror housing. Did the stock painted mirror caps fit afterwards?

Can't answer that question. I bought the car used and the CF caps came on the car. They install with screws instead of tabs.

I was able to install new mirror caps with tabs no problem though.
