DeTalks: The Basics

Let me know what you guys think and if you would like to see more of these. Also, let me know if there are any topics that you would like to see discussed and whether or not you would like for the videos to be longer or shorter. If you feel it benefits this forum then speak up, especially if the detailing related issue is particular to the BMW line of cars. Here's YOUR chance to cater the information you see here in the detailing section of the forum.

Thanks for sharing Junkman. I always say the proof is in the pudding. Let's see some finished products. I'm not saying that in a negative way - I think it would help tie things together.

I worked in the auto industry for almost 20 years. I ran body shops and have worked with countless detailers. Out of them all there are a handful that I would let touch my car. Is my car perfect - no. It is 9/10ths which to me is absolutely fine for a car that is daily driven. I've learned a ton from some talented people so whenever someone says "I own/run a detail shop" the first thing I say is let's see some of your work.

Just in case you're wondering what my car looks like here's a pic. I wholly agree with the "use whatever works for you".

Well I can't speak for Levi, but I have definitely been showing folks what I can do for years. Here's just one car that I've done from start to finish.

Before:

After:

And because photographs can be edited, here's the video. By the way, there's absolutely NO WAX on that car whatsoever. It was a trick question. That's what polishing with a sound technique can do for black cars.

And then there's MY car, which has 150,000 miles on the odometer.

And last of all, just one paint job that I have saved.

I've got a video coming out of me wet sanding on another '65 Shelby Cobra. But until then, the Lamborghini Murcielago will have to do.
