I'm surprised the M2 did that well

One of those two was having a hard time with the shifts - you can hear it oh so very clearly haha

They should say if it was DCT or not and whether launch control was used.

Edit: I guess they're both DCT...Why are the tires hopping? Maybe manually shifting instead?

The launch was fine, look at the numbers.

This is what fractions of a second look like IRL people. It would be nice if this vid stopped a lot of dumb comments by the stat sheet "racers" but I'm sure it won't.

We should all focus on enjoying the car we purchased and maximize our OWN ability within our chosen platform.

+1

What is expected. The M2 is down 80ish hp while not being significantly lighter. I think it was actually closer than expected and the gap would've widened if the race was longer or if it started at a higher speed.

The launch was interesting, but wouldn't have changed much. Close race given the power disadvantage, nothing wrong with either car. Keep the speeds within legal limits and the difference is negligible.

I agree, the M2 had a terrible start to say the least. It looks like if the driver did not use the launch control or settle it at a too low RPM.

It is normal that the M4 wins, after all it is more powerful and not heavier than the M2, but not at this point. Here, compared to M4 the M2 seem to be out of the competition...

To be an honest competition they should have made two drag races and alternate the pilot in both, so we would know if the problem is the car or the pilot. The M4 is about the same power as a Mustang GT and in a drag race between a M2 and a Mustang GT the M2 wins. But a M4 is not a Mustang GT, it's way better !

IMO the power of the M2 is fine it just needs to lose 300-400lb.

Agreed - if the race were longer, the gap would have widened - the M4 is going to have a better top end with the additional BHP.

The M2 is 365 bhp and the M4 is 425 bhp, a 60 bhp difference. In no condition there can be a 90-100 whp gap, maybe a 50 whp but certainly not more.

It was supposed to be like this... did anybody expect something else? M4 should be faster than M2 the same way M5/M6 are faster than M3/M4... simple

This was a competition pack equipped M4 right? Add another 20hp to your numbers putting the M4 around 450hp, but your point is still fairly valid. Not quite 90-100whp, but getting close.
We'd have to see dyno runs of both cars back to back to see the whp difference but it's significant enough that the video isn't a surprise and can be repeated.

Anyone know what the trap speeds are in the 1/4 between the two cars on average?

M2 has been proven to dyno around 330 rwhp, M3/M4 is 425 rwhp so yeah that's close to 100 whp.

The M3/M4 is 425 bhp, not whp.

obviously you haven't looked at the dynos. M3/4s are clocking in around 420 whp/ 420 tq. The S55's power output is definitely under reported whereas the M2's N55 is in line with BMW's claims

True, I'm refering to BMW claim bhp for M2 and M3/M4 and I don't believe the M4 dynos I've seen on Youtube because according to these videos the M4 produce about 421 whp which means at least 510 bhp and I see no reason why BMW would claim 425 bhp for a car that has 510 bhp in reality. This is a none sense.
