When I get a new car I typically detail it myself as quickly as possible. I don't have a professional detail shop where I live so it's up to me to take the time and spend the energy to do it right. Since this car was delivered from a far away dealer, I didn't get a chance to inspect it for damages or paint blems. I also didn't know how good their new car prep was so I figured I could correct most problems they would cause anyway. The car arrived via open flatbed, having been rained on so it just stayed somewhat dirty until I had the time. This time, however, due to the good news of our newly adopted grandson, we put over 2500 miles on before I could do the detail so I was a little concerned about what I might find on the paint. Thankfully, once I got the grime off, the paint was in good shape. I did have to do some correction for a few scratches but nothing too major.

After a decontamination wash, clay bar and rewash, I got a good look at the paint. There were some pretty bad bug gut stains and the afore mentioned scratches, mostly on the hood that corrected easily. Once everything was corrected, I did a fine polish and finished with a sealant. The next day it was off for pix. Enjoy.

Actually they are microfiber polishing pads. I used to use products from various companies but have since settled on Adam's. The one stop shopping is so convenient and I find all their products to be excellent. They may not be THE best in every application but they have all been very good in my experience.

In this detail I used the paint correction polish for the problem areas and fine polish for the rest of the car. I sealed it with Liquid Paint Sealant. I've been tempted by the ceramic nanocoating products too, and when my LPS is gone I may give it a try. That may be a while though.

To answer your question about the interior, I use Adam's leather cleaner followed up with their leather conditioner.

I like the cyclo, it covers a lot of area in a short time and due to the slow RPM it is almost impossible to do any damage. The downside is its weight. I have a 6" Porter Cable also, which I use sometimes. It transmits a lot more energy to the paint, and to my arms. One of these days I'll get a flex polisher for the tight spots but for now I do it by hand.

I have Ceramic Pro Gold (4 layers) + a few glass/rain layers. It carries a life time warranty with a annual free checkup. I would say so far so good but I really haven't driven the car enough to assess. It does look shinier and smoother and it is easier to get the dust off.
