Curious what other members are getting for stock boost levels. Anyone else log the data? I hit 15.8 psi tonight.
On another note, does this car have a temperature sensor in the catalytic converter or is that a guessed ECU value? Somebody got a new toy tonight and can log all ODB data :-) |

boost is related to ambient conditions. When its hot you will probably see more boost to compensate thin air and have the same torque. e.g. when weather is not warm (0 - +5 celcius), I have ~1.35bar, when its hot I have ~1.42 bar (its not B58 but principle is the same, these ecu's are torque based).

One of my other vehicles will never boost over the maximum value I give it, never, ever, would boost over that. BMW seems to be smarter than I am. Constantly manipulating stuff. Very unusual beast it is.

fixed boost is not smart solution, fixed torque is. Driver's target is not boost - its torque, boost is just tool to achieve it Even early non direct injection 1.8T VW's have KFTARX map where it adds some boost if IAT is above ~35 degrees C to compensate power loss and of course lower boost when IAT is too high (>70 degrees).

Now that I'm logging data? I see it's spike up to 18 psi at half throttle here and there. |
