Tree Sap Removal

Hey All,

Need some advice as I'm still waiting to hear back from my detailer. The issue, as stated in the subject is I noticed quite a bit of tree sap on my car. It still looks pretty fresh but just washing it does not do the trick. I have Cquartz on the car so I wanted to see if anyone has removed tree sap while not damaging the clear or cquartz. The car is mineral gray so it's pretty noticeable under the light.

There seem to be a lot of vids on YouTube. Rubbing alcohol seems to be the most popular method.

apparently it was tree aphids and not actually sap. After a few washes it seems to be going away on its own

Wow, weird. Wash your car with a bit of dishwashing soap I guess and then reapply wax? idk. :

Try Goo Gone. It worked for me. Cquartz and Opticoat are pretty strong and durable.

yea, it was weird because when I first noticed the spots I applied some alcohol and it didn't seem to do much on an isolated area. After a couple washes with O and R - they are pretty much gone. I would think it was mostly the CQuartz that helps with the protection as I know the car soap is not very abrasive.

staying away from that damn tree though!!

Finger nail polish remover is great for sap. If it has hardened just hold the damp cloth against it until it softens and it can be removed.

are you sure that won't destroy the clear?

I've used it on a 2011 Mini and a 2013 4Runner with no problems. I would try it in a small spot if you think there may be problems.

Use Lacquer thinner. I have a detailing business, Use it all the time for sap removal. Put a small amount on a microfiber towel and rub over sap. Gone and it will not harm finish.

Guys.... please use hand sanitizer and thank me later!

any will do, with or without the Aloe.. put a pea sized glob on the sap, wait 10 seconds, rub off.

I keep a small bottle in my glove box.

Griot's bug and tar works too. Just be sure to rewax after whatever you do.
