Impressed with the civic type r. Looks solid on the track. Wonder what these Honda boys will do after the boost is turned up lol. M2 looked great as usual compared to the other cars. Everything else looks ugly. Lol

Battle of the nanobots! Although I like being stubbornly traditional, I'm interested to see how the Focus RS stacks up.

Would have liked to see the focus RS beat them all. The Honda wasn't blown away which was pretty well done for a fwd against these others.

I'm genuinely intrigued to see some praise for the CTR in the comments, there's still hope out there.

If they brought the Civic in, then they should've let the Focus RS in the test as well.

I will not believe a difference of 0.01 seconds. It's just insulting. They just rigged the results how they needed them to be.

No interest in a front-wheel drive track car. Zero. Otherwise, I'm surprised the M2 didn't top the others by greater margins, given other drives we've seen...

They all did one lap from a standing start. This is why the AWD cars were close. My guess is that the margin would be much greater on flying laps for the M2 and that the civic would move up the order.

Doesn't the CTR come with track tires? Obviously it's just a track test but I'd be interested in knowing how harsh it is. The civic si I have sacrifices a lot of comfort for performance

On a short track like this the launch is that much more important. The fact that the M2 was fastest even by a small margin means that it made up for the launch disadvantage.

No bias at all. The BMW looks better than the rest also.

The launch disadvantage on the M2 is overblown as its 0-60 times is similar (4.3s vs 4.2s vs 4.3s) to the A45 and RS3 as it is also a DCT.

Still I am surprised they only use the timing completed on the first lap.

The CTR is really handicapped in this timing, with a FWD + 6MT layout.

The win for the BMW was so negligible that it's not even a really good comparison.

I agree that because this is a standing lap doesn't mean much. I'd love to see running laps and the Focus RS thrown in there.

At the end of the day the fact that a FWD Honda can keep up with the big boys which are easily $15k more it's really impressive

They gave zero mention to the most important factor...which car is more fun to drive? I'm guessing the rear wheel drive car....but could be wrong.

Not many of us on here are professional drivers. So what does it matter if one car is a little faster around a track? It's all about driving pleasure per dollar. My M4 is much faster around a track than my S2000. But the S2000 is every bit as fun to drive on track, despite being like 3-4 seconds slower on a 2.25 mile course. OK, it's probably more fun because it revs to 9k RPM and I can drive it much harder without killing myself...even with no traction control.

A45...FWD bias, no thanks
RS3...FWD bias, I'll pass
Civic...FWD all day every day, zero interest

If you read the comparo, these are the claimed manufacturer times...

Crazy how they decided to time the lap from a dig rather than a flying lap, first time I've ever seen a publication do this as does not reflect true racing conditions. The BMW would have likely outperformed by a greater degree than what is shown.

The Honda had the biggest launch disadvantage and if you're testing to see which car is the best track car the results would be quite different with running laps. Would probably be:
1. M2
2. Type R +0.42sec
3. A45 +01.00sec
4. RS3 +01.20sec
