When the doors are locked, the fuel door is locked.

So if you want you fuel door locked, lock the doors.

The central locking button on the console only locks the doors not the fuel flap.

Lock it with your fob to test.

The only way to lock it is to lock the vehicle. When you unlock the vehicle, the fuel door is automatically locked.

and this. Learned this from a poster in New Jersey where they have a law that doesn't allow self-service gas stations, so they still have gas station attendants. When the car is locked from the inside the fuel door is unlocked.

Here's my problem: I go to this touch less car wash, and the blow dryer opens my fuel lid every time.

Then something is broken. There are two components to the fuel door. To open it, you push, and it pops out. To close it you push in again. To lock it, you lock the car and a small pin slides into a hole on the fuel door itself so that it won't open.

I've seen someone break it before because they man handled the fuel door when it was locked and they broke the pin.

Try locking the doors with the fob even though you're inside the car.

Someone in another thread suggested that if you have your car locked and someone (or something) presses on the gas door, it will release the locking mechanism, but it will stay closed until the car is unlocked. When it is unlocked the door will pop open. Mind doesn't work this way, but if the locking mechanism isn't adjusted correctly, this could happen.

^This. You have to lock the car with the fob or from the outside. If you lock all doors using the button on the dash, it will NOT lock the fuel door.

It's not broken. Mine does the same thing as well as two friends of mine that have the same car. Guess it depends on the strength of the blower

This happens to be every time as well. I have to lock the vehicle when waiting for the touch less car wash to stop/finish.

Yes, CA would do it, but if your doors are locked from either auto drive away or with the dash button, the fuel stays unlocked. I think BMW designed them like that so us in no-self pump states can stay safely locked in our cars while getting gas.

When you lock from the CA button on the door handle; but not if you lock from the dash button. Next time you fill up, lower the passenger window and reach in and lock the doors from the inside button--then try the fuel filler door.

Fuel Flap Doesn't remain Un-Lock while Doors Locked.

Hi all.
good day

anyone knows how to keep the Fuel Flap UnLocked while the Door is Locked in the F30?
I have been trying for the past year but i really dont know how to get this done.

Honestly, by accidental trigger, i encountered the fuel door oin remains unlocked while the door is locked - during fuelling. but I got NO idea how did i do that and failed simulating it. This means there is a way to do it, but dont know how.

This is for the F30 3 series. Pls someone help me and teach me. I thank you for shedding some light in me.

Thanks

You can't. If the doors are locked the fuel flap is locked. If the doors are unlocked the fuel flap is unlocked.

Locking with the key fob while you're inside the car is not recommended. It sets the alarm and may cause the car not to function properly as it would set off the alarm. If you start the car it will probably deactivate the alarm and drive normally as it will detect the fob in the car but I'm not sure if the fuel door would remain locked. It's unlikely anyone would syphon fuel from your car while you were driving though. They might try to carjack you instead so it wouldn't matter if the fuel door was locked once they got hold of your keys.
