Bumper Alignment

Hi guys,

So i had to get my passenger side headlight replaced, and I just noticed that there is now a gap between the bumper and hood (see pics). Is this something I can realign myself or do I need to take it back? I don't know how it can be off since there was no damage to the car (the flap in my headlight came loose so it had to be replaced). I'd like to avoid taking a trip to the dealer as with traffic it is a waste of a couple hours during the day.

Thanks

I don't think that is something you can do yourself. Unless you know how to take off the bumper.

I'm not sure how they managed that, but it's possible that they damaged some clips, mounts, etc. in the process. I know the drive is a pain, but I'd suggest taking it back without messing with it in case they did damage something and then call it your fault for whatever you attempted to remedy it.

The shop did not properly fit the bumper in relation to the headlight before screwing everything back. Its not a big problem and can prolly be fixed by yourself if you have the proper torx screwdrivers on hand. I know it took me a couple tries to really get my bumper flush and gap free the handful of times i took my headlightout and bumper off.

if u open the hood before the intake the bumper is held on by a series of torx, the outside one are torx 30 I think. little beefier. it has wiggle room for alignment. loosen it, align it probably. easy fix.

Easy fix, take it back. Just stating the obvious, but make sure both hood latches are fully latched.

sorry to hear that, just bring it back and ask them to let their techs work on it, not the people in training.

Don't you just love it when they put their juniors on service checks/oil changes?

Same thing here after I had the driver's side headlight lens replaced. Apparently, they have to remove the whole bumper assembly to replace the lens. Had to take it back and the SA threw in a complete interior/exterior detailing for their goof and my troubles. Car (including the engine compartment) looked like new after the detailing.

Wow - a mirror image!

My car is new so don't really need a detailing. If they want to throw in an M performance exhaust, then I'll take that

It is a waste of time though. I would rather wait at the dealer and do some work vs picking up a loaner and sitting in traffic to come back/go there to pick the car up again. Oh well, have no choice now.

Have you tried pushing down the weather strip firmly ? I recently retrofitted my headlights and had the same issue on the driver side. It was because the rubber weather strip wasn't completely pushed down.

Good luck with the exhaust request. You can always ask for a future detailing when your car needs it.

I haven't tried but will check it out. There is a tab at the top of the headlight (part of the plastic cover), where the bumper slides into. So i feel like i somehow would have to raise the headlight too. I will take a picture later today and post it.

I wasn't able to go to the dealer this week which means I will probably have to see if I can align it myself. I went to a different dealer since I was staying at my parents place for two weeks. Now that I'm back home, I doubt any local dealer will fix another dealer's problem.

Hey White340, did you figure out how to eliminate the gap? I'm having the same issue and i was planning to remove the bumper and headlight this weekend to see if the headlight can be adjusted vertically.
