All black kidney grille factory option

Why do i recall using the website a few months ago with the option to put an all black kidney grill and carbon fiber caps on the mirrors of a F30 msport?

Right now the only option on the website appears to be the chrome border with black slats and no mirror caps at all.

Is this an unlisted option that i can browbeat my dealership into putting on the car?

Got mine from factory. You can also get them from the "M Performance" section here - http://www.shopbmwusa.com/HOME

The website just doesn't have them listed. You can have your dealer add black grills and mirror caps and any other M-Performance options you want. Just ask your dealer and i'm sure they'll show you a list of M-Performance add-ons you can put on your car

I think you're right. There were exterior options available for several things. Don't see them now. I don't know why.

You are totally correct. Not sure why, but you can no longer configure your build with cosmetic parts. I think this was eliminated a few months ago from BMWUSA.com

Just buy off ebay and install yourself. I can't say for the mirror caps, but the kidneys are $100 in parts and 5 minutes of work (especially if you don't care for the original ones).

+1 on the kidney grilles. Very easy to replace. Don't pay for a dealer to install them - definitely not worth paying that money. There are videos on YouTube that show you how to do this.

Yeah I noticed the same, for a while you could add M Performance stuff, or at least some of it, to an F30 on the BMW site. Now you can't.

Btw, I had the black kidney grilles added at the port and like others have said it was a big mistake. I think it was almost $200 while you can get the OEM black kidney grilles from getbmwparts.com for like $65 shipped.

Just ask your client advisor to add it. A lot of options that aren't on the website can be added at port. Most M parts, like exhaust and spoilers can be added at port. Great way to get it under the lease

I believe that is EXACTLY why they were eliminated.

Had the OEM black kidney grills added to my 340i order by my client advisor. I also suggest you add the OEM black chrome tailpipes to balance color. Getting the black grills and having the chrome tailpipes bothered the crap out of me.

This 100% - probably the first thing I'll do after getting my car. Ordered the black grill as a PIA but didn't know about the tailpipes until too late to change. It's bothering me already and I don't even have the car!

Quick question - are exhaust tips a DIY job on the 340i? Do I need any tools other than a rubber mallet and a couple of drive on ramps?

And which ones would you recommend ordering? Got a link?

You don't even need ramps, the forward edges of the tips are easy to reach and hit with a mallet. You will literally spend more time looking for that mallet than using it.
