M2 VS Focus RS VS Audi RS3: Auto Express

To take with a grain of salt of course , this magazine is notorious for favouring UK brands... The part about depreciation and residuals makes me laugh: how can someone assess such things with a brand new model??

It would seem the Auto Express tester is not very capable when it comes to managing the power of a rear wheel drive when sprinting to 60 mph. 4.8 secs 0-60 for the M2 ? 3.8 secs for the Audi ? Nonsense ! God that Audi looks sooo boring.

I had to give up a laugh on the "Styling" section of the M2:

"...even next to the Ford RS' muscular body."

Ehm...Ford uses the same "body" structure as with every other Focus - there are no special RS wheel arches and they just changed bumpers and the spoiler. Don't get me wrong: I like the Focus RS for it's great performance and much improved overall experience over the standard models - but when there is one thing that lacks, it's styling and a muscular body which I think is very sad compared to his predecessor.

Yeah, but Auto Express considers Ford as a domestic UK brand .

I have zero idea why everyone is testing the Focus RS against the M2. Its not the same kind of car or in the same price bracket in any way. Would rather see them test a v8 Mustang against the RS or M2, its more the same price bracket.. The Mustang is the only Ford that ever has or probably will be on my buying radar only due to the V8 and history. That Focus RS can go park next to a Golf R so they can compare 0-60 times or something, I think its just plain ugly.

Has the M2 won a single comparison test it's been in? I kind of feel bad for it. It's a great car that seemingly has run into a "better" one.

It's like Mikko Hirvonen's revenge. Get it?

Yes, it's won every single comparison against the M4. So I guess it goes like this...Focus RS > M2 > M4

I guess it's the same response given in the Porsche forums by Cayman/Boxster members regarding the M2: "It's still a BMW, a 2-series no less and looks like a ricer. I appreciate it but it's not in the same league."

So nothing against a car with which the M2 competes? It is kind of ironic that all the M2 fanboys believed this car to be the next coming of Jesus Christ only to have it beaten out by a $35,000 Ford from the moment it was released. For the record, I love the M2 but no car is perfect, as it appears.

Lol. I'm waiting on a M2 so I can laugh. So true though. And when it's not getting its ass kicked by a $35k ford, it's getting its ass kicked by a slightly more expensive Ford, the GT350/R.

All jokes aside, if you take a step back and see how far Ford has come, it is pretty amazing. These are remarkable cars, they just need to make more of them and stop marking them up. Thats the only thing that pisses me off about Ford at this point.

Hopefully it can win a comparison test soon so Bimmerpost will have something to put on the front page besides bloated 3 series dealer inventory levels.

Wow, the blue collar brands are rising up these days. I can't do the Focus RS body kit though. Maybe if they gave it wider fenders.

Can't take anything this guy says seriously simply based on the 0-60 times. If he can't even get those close to right, then all I hear is blah blah blah

Lol, it's pretty much true though, all 3 of these cars are just hopped up versions of basic every-man cars.
