B48/B58 issues so far

I want to get a new 330i (I'm in the US) this fall, but I'm a little wary of buying a new motor early in its run. Anyone with a B48 (or B58, since they share a lot of architecture)--have there been any issues thus far? Either that you've had, or that you've heard of?

You mean 330e? The 330i is not available in the US. Only 320, 328, 330e & 340.

330i is coming this fall, per sources on this forum. My question was directed at forum members in other countries who may already have a 330i.

A similar version of the B48 had been ran in the mini for over a year. Should be ok

B48 - no issues so far, but it's just few months after release (7.5k miles here), so I wouldn't expect anything soon

340i owner here, had a coolant pump failure on the B58 engine after 6 months of ownership with less than 5000 miles on the odo. Among several 340i owners here, I'm the only one that has experienced this or anything like this as far as I know.

Also interested in hearing more about 330i. This engine with 6MT may be my next car...looking forward to test drive.

Yes, the current 330i is a 4-pot. Gone the days of the smaller output I6 engines.

Incorrect. 330i is the B48 4 cylinder

Yes N20 replacement, 2.0 liter turbo 4. stroke dimension considerably longer than bore, resulting in more torque.

320i LCI B48. Currently sitting at BMW dealership @ 15,000kms for cyl 3 misfire and low compression. Most likely will need a new motor. Sigh, and I hoped they would get fix issues of the N series in the Bs. Apparantly this is a common issue in most B48 mini coopers as well.

340i B58 has about 30k miles on it at the very moment. No issues with the engine. Overall a very solid engine especially if you take into account how hard I drive the car everyday.

all 6,000 miles I'm in the boost

High throttle input/RPMs ?

Very much interested in this topic, as I intend to keep my car for a very long time ..
The engine [B46 [48s SULEV version]] in mine feels very responsive and dynamic at 8k miles. Enjoy it a lot !
