F8x steering wheel trim - modded

thought i'd share, as i haven't seen this done before.

i quite dislike the silver trim. It just doesn't match.

couldn't find a dry-look carbon piece for the steering wheel trim (and my diy attempt at di-noc...er...let's pretend that didn't happen.)

as opposed to the plastic trim on our cars, the f8x cars have a metal trim piece. After the trials and tribulations required to pull it off, i had it powder coated high gloss black to match the lci radio trim / the shadowilne trim on the door panels.

just put it on tonight (on my custom steering wheel) and i'm quite happy. The trim piece, fwiw, is also covered in leather as opposed to our stock plastic ones. It's a lot nicer!

is the entire f8x steering wheel compatible with the f3x? can we retrofit the whole thing instead of just taking the trim?

OT but you look kinda squashed up against the wheel. Do you legs actually touch the wheel like that when you're driving?

Haha that's hilarious. Nice point. No

I had just reattached the wheel, and had the seat pushed way forward / the wheel down

Yes it is, but this method doesn't have 2 useless m button!

Now that is attention to detail! Well done! Where did you get that gorgeous steering wheel?

Thanks!

His id on eBay is ledermanz, he can custom make the wheels to spec (flat bottom, Palm rests, thumb rests, stitching color etcetc) really nice work for the cost!
