Help on lowering my car

need a little help guys. I hate the wheel gap on my 453 X-Drive GC - I want to lower it but I am getting mix info. this is my 5 miles Mon to Fri daily driver ( dropping my kid off to school ). Some people are tell me that will run into problems down the road ( faster wear and tear )and to just leave it stock and get a nice set of rims 19 or 20 to limit the gap - other are saying I will be fine. Mind you I live in NJ and sometimes drive into NYC wear the road are a nightmare. Can someone guide me on the correct path.

One word, coilovers. Good set of coilovers like kwV1 is all you need and you will be set with no worries about "wear & tear". Dont be afraid to pull the trigger. Just save you original parts if you really are unhappy or run into warranty issues just swap back. But im pretty sure that wont happen

I've owned lowered e28's, e34's and e39's while living in the Hudson Valley and traveled into NYC with no issues, just be careful . As mentioned, coilovers.

If you don't lower it, the bigger the wheels you go, the more you will notice the wheel gap and it will appear even bigger than with your 18s. It's kind of backwards thinking but it's some optical illusion that messes with you.

Do the KWs still squeak? All the threads I've read are from a few years ago.

Check the Dinan springs & bump steer kit.
Truly a great bang for the buck!

+1.

The OP also lives in NJ which has some of the worst roads in the country. I would not recommend anything large than 18" diameter. Going larger than that means significantly increasing the chance of wheel damage due to potholes

I have put 57,xxx miles on my 2014 335i M Sport RWD in 1 year and 11 months between Maryland and New Jersey.

I have had zero issues with pot hole damage.

+1 coilover set is much more reliable than springs swap.

Seriously...guys that have coilovers...are they squeaking? I was seriously looking at getting KW v1 but heard about them making noise after a few thousand miles. If you search on coilovers and squeaking you get a ton of threads across multiple coilover manufacturers and cars. I want everything the coilovers provide, but I don't know about noises when you hit bumps.

I purchased my kw v1 used w/ 6k miles and I've added another 7k miles. Till this day, i have yet to hear squeaks or run into any issues. Ive been happy ever since the swap.
