How old are F30 drivers?

I know that F30 is considered a young person's car (20-30). Just wanted to see how many of us, like me, fall out of this age group (I'm 38).
I found an older thread on this but wanted to create a poll to get a better picture.

That is really interesting. I would never have considered the F30 a young persons car.

In fact, just anecdotally I would say that at least 90% of the people I see driving them are over 30 or close.

I wonder how closely the forum demographic aligns with the BMW owners demographic as a whole.

I perceive it more as a 28-45 yr old's car.

why not 3 series is an entry level car to the brand. Not an aspirational product?

Those people are just $199 lease type in it for the badge and free maintenance.

Demographics of the E9x from 2005. I doubt much has changed in the last ten years, other than the age and income range possibly climbing some.

Today’s typical 3 Series Sedan owner
• Gender 50% female/50% male

Age Younger than the competition
(30s to 50s), but getting older:

Loyalists = oldest;
Conquest (current Luxury/Performance) = in-between;
Conquest (new Luxury/Performance) = youngest, Gen-X

• Occupation Executive/Managerial 24%
Professional Specialty 16%
Sales/Health Care/
Administrative/Clerical 22%

• Median
house-hold
income $102,000

• Children 1 in 3 households has kids at
home

• Interests Driving for fun, working out,
running/jogging/walking, golf,
listening to radio, personal
computing

• Psychology Strong self-perception and
confidence, independent

• Brand affinities - BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Lexus, Acura

Because BMW's aren't cheap.

Most BMW's I see are by folks who are in their late 20's up through their 40's. Same goes with any luxury car really. Don't see many 320i $199 lease specials on the road. In fact, I think the cheapest "lease special" BMW is still around $399 or so.

And if we're being technical, the 2 Series and X1 are the entry level cars now.

all about the right incentives and down payment. some quick googling yields this.

I personally don't believe in leasing. I like the freedom of doing whatever I want to the car. But The appeal of write offs and general "it's a rental" is awesome.

I am just telling you what I see when I look at people driving and buying these cars. Also, I believe the 3-series is an aspirational purchase for a lot of people. A 40k car is a lot of money for most of us. A stripped 320i is more the exception than the norm where I live. The majority of the 3-series cars I see on the lots and the streets are moderately equipped 328i's.

I have also spent far too much time in the local dealership in the last 6 months and I will tell you that I have not seen a single customer in the dealership that appeared to be less than 30 years old.

It is possible that there is a lot of variance depending on where you live so you may see very different demographics than I do.

I'm 26 going on 27 (September) I bought my 328d when I was 25. I bought mine for a few reasons, I was in the market for a diesel car, and neither one of the VW cars could compare to the drivability of the of the BMW. I had test drove a 335d a couple of years ago, and that thing was an absolute monster, but I couldn't find one packaged the way I wanted, so I went to test the 28d, and while it couldn't compare to the torque of the 35d, it was miles away from the VW 2.0, plus it delivered 50 mpg on the highway (when I could keep my foot out of it). Also I fell in love with the sound of the BMW diesel after having been to Germany and listening to all the diesels drive by.

$5,350/24 = $214/month + $89/month = $303/month

It is median household, not individual, income. Also, being median, plenty of owners/buyers fall below that number.
