New F30 owner (2012 328i Modern)

Just picked up CPO 2012 328i Modern Line version and was looking for tips on what to mod. So far I've updated Nav with the help of someone on here and my Weathertec floor & trunk liners will be here tomorrow. I've been reading the board and think I want to start with these:

Tint

matte black kidneys/mirror caps (although doing CF has crossed my mind)

MPE or AA exhaust

I'd really like to get rid of this wood interior trim and possibly swap out the tan gauges. What would you guys suggest? I drive 500 miles/w so I'd like to get the best MPG as possible.

Here are a couple pictures:

Congrats, always liked the understated style of the Modern line.

The modern line is sort of exclusive now in the us. I dont know if id want to change it up. Might prolly carry a premium later for some bmw collector

If you aren't into the wood interior there are several DIY forums on here for wrapping interior trim, reversible and relatively cheap

The wood trim in my car isn't smooth, but I'll take a look and see if it's been covered before.

Swap out the turn signals and brake lights with LEDs. May require coding if you want them to stop flickering, but getting into coding opens a whole new set of options too!

Did you update the I-Step or just the Nav maps?

Congrats. Looks good. If you liked the wood enough not to let it keep you from buying the car I'd suggest leaving it for a while. It might really grow on you with a little time. You might grow to appreciate the gauges, too. You have a 3er unicorn there.

Tint is a great addition. Do about 35% all around. Looks classy and gets the job done very well.

If the car still has some warranty left you can get the Start/Stop coded by the dealer to remember the last setting. That license plate holder tells me this was probably a "launch" vehicle, one of the very first ones produced.

www.bimmer.work and the last seven of the VIN will tell you exactly what equipment the car has.

Picked the car back up from dealer yesterday and finally got to put in Weathertech front, rear, and trunk liners. Since I couldn't find any pics with cargo hook cutoffs removed I thought I'd post it here.

Yes. Modern line models are very rare and "launch" models are even rarer. That vin decoder I posted will give the exact date the car was built.

That last code, 999 - Order Control First Dealer Cars, indicates the car was a launch car, ordered by the dealer before ordering was open to the public.

Do you know the "in-service date"? You might want to find out from a BMW dealer. You could still have some new car warranty left.

The In-Service date was 2-29-12. I have CPO coverage until 2-28-18 (verified it would transfer before I purchased, CPO start date October 2013).

I actually had my car at the dealership the last several days having a new windshield installed and a OFH recall taken care of. When the tech was in the engine he noticed a weird sound and turns out it's a timing chain issue. They initiated a PUMA and I'm supposed to drop it back off next week so they can get it fixed under the CPO warranty.

+1 on tint will really improve the look. I did 30% all around.
Black kidneys will transform the front. Since you were talking about exhaust, what about a tune as well?

Cool. Sounds like you did well. How many miles?

I may try a tune, I haven't decided if I want to do that yet. I want to get the best MPG I can.

The car has almost all LED lighting (save Xenons), but I've been looking at getting LEDs for the reverse/inner brake lights, footlight & door courtesy lights and probably the fogs as well. Bimmian seems to have most of that stuff, anyone have suggestions on where else I could buy from?

My car is "Modern Line." The door sill on the driver's side says "BMW Modern." The sill on the passenger side says "BMW Sport." The car is "Modern," but I've wondered how the passenger side got screwed up.

How much is the new windshield? Mine has a tiny crack, like from a piece of construction gravel hitting it. My old Nissan Altima went that way for years, and then suddenly the crack grew long, and I could no longer ignore it.

Mine has "BMW Modern" on both front doors. The rear door sills just say "BMW".

BMW says that if you have the automatic rain sensor it should be replaced instead of being "re-glued" which is what places like Safelite do. The cost of factory glass, new sensor, and labor was about $1,300.
