Hello
I noticed some small shake when I turn my F32 sharply (full turn) at slow speed. I drove off my driveway and felt the small vibration like i drove over small bump but disappeared when pull the wheel back. Then I tried it on even pavement and I still felt it. I think this might happened for some time or since i got the car but never notice because it's very small judder and you can feel it only with very slow speed. Stock wheels, suspension. Is it normal? |

If you are not seeing any abnormal tire wear then I wouldn't worry about it. At full lock the suspension geometry is at its extreme and the drive wheels are pushing on the front wheels at an angle. The tire in the direction you are turning must be at a greater angle than the tire on the outside. They will be following two very different arcs (the inside arc will be smaller than the outside arc). This could cause one tire to slip a bit as you move forward. I have seen this on many of my cars. You may even notice it to a greater extend when backing up with wheels at full lock.

Also if you have summer tires, if the temps get below 50 at night and hold for a few hours the tires can get hard and you'd feel it at extreme wheel angles.
This occurs with Pirelli p-zeros on my dads 911. In the Bay Area the climate is very moderate. Is your car on P-Zeros? It's likely a combination of hard tires and the extreme angle they're at

i feel the same thing with my BMW when backing out of my driveway. My Toyota used to do the same thing and when i brought in for alignment, they said some screws were loose. I said, i know i'm a little crazy but that is kind of rude to say, but then he explained, no not that, some of the suspension bolts were loose that you use for alignment. The person that aligned the car previously did not tighten them down and it's a good thing you came in.

some what related to this i was on a test drive earlier today. f30 2014 xdrive 335i msport auto 52000km. When in sport and sport + mode when shifting manually full throttle at higher revs in a straight line when the next gear engaged i felt a judder in my seat and short loss of power. The car then takes off like a rocket but it just doesn't seem normal. First happened on the freeway at like 80kmh when it was raining so came today to try in the dry in case it was wheel slip and traction control and same thing. Especially noticed on 1-2 shifts in the dry. Needless to say i did not buy it but im curious if this is normal. Possible xdrive issue?
