What a day

So i was on the 73 (Newport, CA freeway) and the iDrive notified me of severe loss in tire pressure. I am running Pirelli PZN non-RFTs. So i exited the freeway and stopped at a gas station and the tire started to lose all the air till it became flat. There was a hole in the tire, i called Triple A. They Roadside assistant guy came and helped me batch the hole which was in a perfect place that make fixable. I re-calibrate it the TPMS and it help the pressure well for two day.

Tried to go to a pep boys and other tire shops wanted them to take the tire off and reseal it from inside and make sure its okay, they all tried to not do it saying that the can't roll the tire with the rim because my rim is too large (20") and it seems expensive and they don't want to risk it as long as the tire is "fine"

What really pissing my off that this night i scratched my front lip when i was trying to left my car on the towing truck (H&R Sport springs & M Performance OEM CF Splitter) and it is ruined.

Here is a picture of the batch the roadside assistance guy did.

I've plugged many, many of my "M" cars' tires with no problem. Your AAA guy used a plug. If you're not losing pressure, there really shouldn't be any more problems.

But, it sounds like you want more piece of mind by taking the tire off the rim. It can't hurt, and if you feel better with a patch, find a tire shop that's willing to "risk" taking off a larger diameter tire.

Your hole's location looks like the perfect place for a plug, though.

Agreed. Run flats are the way to go.

Nevermind. Was just, more or less, being a smartass.

The two or three times I've had a screw or nail in my tire and limped around for a couple days on run flats made me appreciate them... Especially when you read posts like this where there's the inconvenience of waiting for help and then dealing with the follow on issues of his car being damaged by the truck. That's all.

True RFTs might make your life easier when a situation happens, but the joy of having performance tires makes you forget that.. Not to mention having a spare tire, would make life easy but again the weight annoys me!

That sucks. Our GCs are LOW...there's no way I can add a splitter (1..non-msport so no one makes them) and 2..it wouldn't survive the first day going up/down my driveway.

Hope you get your tire issue squared away.

RFTs weigh a ton. By switching to continentals ExtremeContact DW summer tires I will shed 6 lbs unsprung weight on the front and 8lbs from the rear axle. (Source: tirerack.com)

The rear stock Bridgestone S001s weigh as much as the wheel they are on!

3lbs per tire? (I run square..so it'd be all the same). . 12lbs is 12 lbs!

I was utterly shocked, but I guess you need to add weight if you're going to be able to drive on a deflated tire

I wanted you to be able to spot it on your own, to see how obvious it is.. But here are the scratches

My guess, you won't even remember it two weeks from now.
Sure it's a bit scratched and you feel bad about it now, but soon enough, there'll be another one from stone chip or what not. Really not a huge deal in my opinion. Of course if there's a way to simply get rid of it, I'd do it, but it's far from "ruined".
