M2 vs. Model III w/ a Ludicrous Mode
Hypothetical, sort of, but what are people's thoughts? It certainly doesn't have the M2 looks, but it is clearly the future of cars...

It will be interesting to see what they will offer in the performance department. I placed an order at the Tesla dealer yesterday morning just to have the option of getting one when they come out, the Model 3 base would only be $25,000 after tax credits, which is just crazy. Anyway, the deposit is refundable.

I read yesterday that the Fed tax credit will actually expire for Tesla right after deliveries start, if not before. I still think the Model 3 could be a good deal if it's what you want, but you might not be able to count on the tax credit.

Testa has a history of poor performance on the race tracks. It's not built for racing. Overheating issues, etc.

Highly unlikely that you will get the full $7,500 federal tax credit, if any at all. Only the first 200k cars (total per manufacturer, not per model) sold in the US are eligible, and then there is a 12 month phase out period where the credit decreases (50% in Q1/Q2, 25% Q3/Q4). Basically if you don't get a first year car, or early 2nd year, there's almost no chance you're getting the credit, since Tesla is nearing the 100k mark already.

That is my thought also. I drive 90% of the time within 75 miles from home. If the Model 3 has any relation to the refinement that the Model S has, it will be light years ahead of the other electric car out there. Apparently Tesla has 325,000 orders now, there is a reason for that.
