BMW 435d tuning

After considering the options back and forth with the N57 engine I have come to the conclusion to do the following:

1. Lower intake air temperatures
- Will install a bigger intercooler, Wagner Evo 2

2. Lower exhaust resistance
- Have installed BMW M Performance exhaust system
- Keep the DPF, will not need over 380 HP/700 Nm

3. Improve road handling
- Loose the RFT and install Michelin Super Sport
- Have H&R sport springs, xDrive makes the 435 original springs like shit on the road.

4. Chiptuning
The ECU can be modded to 380 HP and +700 Nm
This without removing cat or DPF.
The 8HPZF7 gearbox does shifting in 200 msec and is awsome
Tolerate to 700 Nm.

After that all that is needed is some cosmetics.

Cool stuff, keep us up to date!

I'm curious about the tuning, post some dyno results when you have time.

I'm going this Thursday to do a tune myself, and I should have 360+hp / 700+Nm.

Really good choice on the intercooler
Which company are you going to use for the ECU tune?

I was thinking putting it on the dyno original first. then install the AWRON air-inlett computer to get EGT and other things (the extended instrument display in the diesel does have an oil temp and the ODB provide water temp and that is excellent.

The Wagner Evo 2 is to provide lower air intake temp BEFORE tuning and the ECU config would be BEST if it is only available on SPORT+ mode.

http://www.tmchiptuning.com/sv/start

They have a Superflow SF880 4wd bench and provide 380 HP and +700 Nm but I will settle for 700 Nm as the gearbox is not spec for more.

hello
i have same engine on my F11 535xd 2012 313ps model.N57.

you will get this model(75-volume high pressure fuelpump) about 390-405hp and 720-740nm.debends engine condition.

If you need more power, then you have to do:

-New downpipe,no dpf/cat.
-Wagner tuning intercooler.
-M550d high pressure fuelpump.
-New programming for engine.

outcoming are:
about 440-450hp and 850-880nm,depends how much programmer put time to find all out.

Greetings Pasi

Cool what's your spec what have you done?

Did you get any smoke just with a remap?

Have you changed the intercooler if so any better?

Cheers

hey

been done:

-New downpipe,no dpf/cat.-->less pressure on downpipe=gases changing on engine much better.

-Wagner tuning intercooler.-->boost temp decreased about 100c-->50c.

-M550d high pressure fuelpump.-->can get more fuel=more power, still this pump is not big as enough.

-New programming for engine.-->turbos are on the limit,no more air.coming small amount of smoke.

Would be really nice to know how you get the gearbox, rated at max 700nm to cope. I blew one at 810nm. The figures don't add up to me.

Holy crap. That's brutal. Did you do any launches, or was it in normal driving?
How much did you pay for repairs?

There is a way to get around blowing the transmission, but I´m waiting for the guy with the numbers to explain that to me.
Nah, it was at a full acceleration on a middle gear it gave up, at kick down. must have been an construction error
Cost? 0.
Warranty. Just hade to make a pit-stop before handing the car over to BMW...

Agree, transmission should handle at least 700 Nm - Alpina D3 Biturbo use same ZF8 and has 700 Nm, probably there is a reserve 50 Nm torque

I know this is an old thread but does anyone know if you could install an upgraded low pressure fuel pump (lift pump) to gain the additional pressure to get to 450hp?

From reading this can help and makes decent power (obviously with a tune, dpf off). The 335i guys (I used to have one) do this mod to get there cars over 400hp. It's a common mod in the diesel truck world as well. Dam site cheaper than a new high pressure pump.

Also as far as I can see the Cp4.2 bosch high pressure pump will fit the 435d as well and it's good for 550-600hp. Looks to be cheaper than the m550d pump.
