New 740i spotted!!

My neighbor picked up a brand new 740i and it is absolutely beautiful. This is my first time seeing the new 7 series in real life and I can only say that it looks much more refined in the flesh. The owner also has a F01 7er [IMG][/IMG]right next to it for a direct comparison, and the G11 just outshines it from every angle.

Apologies for the mediocre pictures; took the pics with my iPhone and the garage lighting was horrible

I may be dumb, but I just noticed that some of the G12 headlights have an aluminum strip running across the bottom of the headlight housings - I assumed every one had this strip, but I see this one doesn't.

Does that aluminum strip only come on LED lights?? (I also thought LEDs were standard so what do I know)

The aluminum strip is for the "icon" LED headlights that are only on the 750i. 740i has standard LED headlights but doesn't have the same design as the 750i headlights.

I had no idea there was a different look for the headlights between the 2 models. Thanks for sharing!

this is actually the basic led light. You have adaptive LEDs and the Laser lights. The adaptive LEDs and laser lights look quite similar to each other. You can recognise the lasers with the blue line in the angel eyes.

Correct, visually they're different, however, both LED lighting packages available here in the US are "adaptive".

There's the "Adaptive LED Headlight" (standard on the 740i) which features more traditional corona rings, amber-colored turn indicators on the side.

Then there's the "Icon Adaptive LED Headlight" (optional on the 740i and standard on the 750i) which features more stylized corona rings that have depth -- and visually connect via light bar to the kidney grille. These more advanced headlights also feature a horizontally split chamber for each light (top portion is low-beam headlight and bottom portion is high-beam headlight); additionally, the amber-colored turn indicators run horizontally above the headlights).

The differences between the two are actually quite perceptible if seen side-by-side.
