Ford dealers will be marking up the GT350 by $5k+ for a long time. BMW dealers are mostly charging MSRP for the M2, and of course you can get a further 5% discount with ED, and there will be rebates from USAA/BMWCCA.

I've said it before and said it again. GO UGLY EARLY. Buy the ford NOW.

We'll see you back here in 15 months, after you have gotten bored

The comparison car here really is the M4... not the M2... Both in SIZE and PRICE. The M4 can be discounted to near M2 pricing.

Honestly, I think the GT350 looks a lot better than the M2. If I had to choose one right now with $52k in my hand, I'd pick the GT350 as my weekend track car.

Gt350. They are also available for msrp

Better looking car imo and a much better performer. Plus that sound

Realistically, neither though

Don't know about that? No dealer markup for the brand new ///M car? I doubt it!

- Don't doubt it's possible but getting a GT350 for MSRP will be something of a feat. Around here they are doing a blind auction and that's for an allocation of 9 of them.

- Don't see why an M2 wouldn't make a splendid daily driver. If you have snow, get a winter wheel/tire set.

- Given the choice I would get the GT350 because it's the shallow, impulsive thing to do.

But what about daily drivers?

Would you rather go with 526hp 5.2 liter flat plane crank V8 that revs to 8,300rpm for 48k...

or the tiny M2 coupe, with gobs of torque and that classic M feel and complete with the bulldog stance?

This is my dilemma, both are the same price for the most part (with the M2 actually probably being like 7-8k more after everything is said and done.)
Just to clarify, I believe the pictured vehicle is a GT350R. The R carries a premium over the GT350.

Amazed to see this thread.. I actually have a GT350 on order (at MSRP, the deals are out there) but I've been waiting on the M2 for a long.. long time. I've said to myself this is the only car that could make me cancel my order.

Right now I'm sticking with the GT350, but I am mulling the switch which is why I am here. People saying the GT350 would only be good for the track are mistaken, the GT350R is more track focused whereas the GT350 itself is not as extreme.

The 350 is a formula that resonates with me, N/A V8 that revs high. Is it exotic? Nope. I never liked Mustangs before but this one is special. The M2 on the other hand would be more fun on a daily basis IMO.

I've been driving BMWs since 1999, and I have to say that I'm intrigued by the GT350. I was reading the C&D review, and the consensus was if you want a BMW but are thinking trying an American car and the Corvette is not for you, think about the GT350. The price, performance, sound (that is some sound, and usually I don't care to much about that), manual only...there are a lot of highlights. The GT350s I've seen pictures of are decked out in bright colors, racing stripes and/or the track package...I can potentially see a grey car without stripes or track package as something I could actually drive.

I'll probably buy another BMW, but the GT350 has me thinking.

I've been thinking the same thing. I stopped by a Ford dealer last week. I noticed on the Mustangs, the build quality was pretty poor- like 1984 kind of poor.

The reveal between the front fenders and the hood was inconsistent. On one GT, the rear window was mounted flush to the roof line on one side and 3/16 of an inch low on the other side. On the next GT the window was flush on both sides. On the next the window was low on the opposite side.

Poor build quality combined with the lack of direct injection makes me think that Ford cut all kinds of corners on this car.

For a weekend? Hell yes. But would I want it in my driveway a year from now instead of an M2? Meh, I kinda doubt it.

BMW cut a lot of cost out of the f30 cars- hopefully those cost cutting measures will not be so obvious on the M2.

Just hear that exhaust in the first few secs of this clip. Should make your decision clear. I'm a BMW guy and never had an American car but the GT350 makes lots of sense to me. Damn you Ford with that NA V8. BMW why did you go turbo????? BTW I'm really liking the M2 also but for the same price, its a no brainer

These are the two cars that interest me the most for a next vehicle in that 55k price range, I'd be thrilled to own either.

I think the GT350 is an all out beast and if you want the best track performer it is a no brainer. Ford was able to go more balls to wall where BMW was more surgical not to step on big bro toes.

The reports coming in on the GT350 is that it is a tame on the streets, a lot of that might have to do with its torque curve, nothing down low. This is where I think the M2 will shine as fun nimble daily driver with gobs of torque down low. Factor in the MPG's and the fact I can get a DCT, it's no longer a slam dunk for Ford. Now if Ford would drop a DCT in the GT350.

I'm leaning towards a MG, DCT M2 over a Competition Orange, stripe delete, GT350.

As much as I am a BMW fanboy and everything, That ford is a serious machine and will probably eat the m2 for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lol

Only a moron pays ADM. This comparison is an insult to the GT350.

Stick to the Civic and Focus comparisons.

Dude, wtf is wrong with you. It's SO OBVIOUS that you're butt hurt about the M2. Like, maybe at least try to hide it a little bit? You just RAGE and RAGE about the terrible M2 that hasn't even been reviewed yet.

Mr. Butt hurt, please take a rest.

I've been thinking about the GT350 but two things I don't like.

I think it's going to be hard to find one at MSRP for a while. I know I can get the M2 for MSRP if not less. Plus, a garage with an M2 sitting next to a 1M? Come on!

GT350 is a little on the large side for my tastes.
