Running 100 Octane

So on my 435 xdrive I currently have ER downpipe, AFE sealed intake, and jb4 (map5). I was looking to run 100 octane as there is a pump near my house. I know map 7 is meant for race gas features but then what is the difference if I run it on map 5 which is the autotune feature.
Anyone know the difference or any information they can pass to my direction. First hand experience maybe?
Thanks again!

On 100oct, map5 should autotune up to close to map7, but map5 on my M235i doesn't seem to do as well as it did on my old FBO N54.

I run 100oct full time, and I prefer map7.

Map 5 will auto tune to a happy medium for your modifications and octane. It will take some time to adapt.

Map 7 is a straight shot to 18.5 PSI. It could be theoretically too aggressive as it's not a one map fits all.

You should datalog.

Map 5: Autotuning map, absolute target of 11-17psi based on octane and conditions.
Map 6: User definable absolute target map. Suggested for troubleshooting by professionals only.
Map 7: Race gas map. Absolute target of 18.5psi. Requires straight unleaded race gas.

Map 5 will let the Jb4 decide what is the recommended target boost for your car based on mods, fuel and temperature.
Map 7 has preset target that the Jb4 will target no matter what mods you have.

If you are going to use map 7 it is strongly recommended that you datalog and post it on forums or Burger Tuning technical support

So i connect my JB4 and laptop to read codes? That way I can see which map would be beneficial for my car at a set boost, octane, modification, etc?

reading codes is a specific function, not the same as data logging (which you do while driving)

you can log using mobile devices, too

there is a lot of information on the vendor's support forum, I recommend checking it out
