Help with aftermarket bluetooth/radio

Hello people, I currently do not have BMW assist/Bluetooth and was told by the dealer that they can not install it after the fact. So long story short I purchsed a aftermarket bluetooth kit from Motorola. I have the base 325i with the base radio. The bluetooth kit has a radio mute wire for aftermarket radois and a external speaker. What I would live to do is hook the wire into the radio to trigger the AUX/Ipod input? if not atleast trigger the radio to mute and use the external speaker?

Thanks for any help, Jerry

Well good luck.

You can not route the sound through aux-in because you cannot tell the radio to automatically switch to aux when a call comes. And thereīs no mute in on the radio because the factory phone systems send that info via CAN-BUS. There isnīt even an ignition lead on the radio (that you could cut with a relay when a call comes in), since the radio gets the info of ignition on/off via CAN-BUS as well. Next thought would be to cut the speaker wires with relays, but on 10 speakers, that would be quite a drag. So Iīd say: Time for a professional install (if you can find a real pro that wonīt chop up your E90 badly)

Hmm thats interesting. Because the E46, E60 ect all have retro BMW bluetooth kits. They are about 300-400USD . I think the E90 is probally just not available yet.

j505mni,
Can you give an update on this issue? Were you able to do what you wanted? I am also interested in knowing if you like the quality/functionality of the Motorola bluetooth carkit that you bought.
Thanks,
mike
