ER Charge pipe with soot + metal shavings?

Anyone inspected the inside of the ER CP before installing? I noticed mine was filled with metal shavings and soot.

Figured it's from the machining but man, it wouldn't have taken much to screw up the engine or for ER to air blast inside before packaging them.

Im happy with my Supersprint DP now, OEM quality.

I have. Sent email to BMS and their exact reply:

"We get these directly from ER, I have Christine copied on this email so she knows as well.
I guess that one got missed out from cleaning?"

I greatly apologize for this. This is not acceptable and I am greatly embarrassed that came out of one of our charge pipes. We definitely want to rectify and make things right with you so that you are satisfied. Please contact us at (626) 814 3403 so we can take care of this issue.

We recently fired one of our shippers due to not properly doing his job. We suspect that he was the person who packed this charge pipe. We take all quality issues very seriously and I have addressed our shipping department about this. We're currently assessing how this happened and are taking extra measures to ensure this never happens again with our products.

Impressed, indeed.

Fred Su, owner of ER, contacted me promptly via a very sincere and apologetic email to offer a new pipe, and $100 for my trouble! I decided to save the hassle of them sending a new one and asked for cleaning directions and yes, I'll be using that $100 towards a new DP in the near future.

Christie, the sales lead who works with BMS, I believe, also contacted via phone to reiterate Fred's message and to apologize.

They did not ask me to update this thread, btw. But am compelled to do so since they really made it right.

Wish problems in life were this easy to fix.

Kudos to ER. Nice job turning lemon into lemonade on this one.

+1 for ER

They are a great company.. Even the best companies make mistakes. ITs how they deal with them that really makes you see what kind of company they are.

We have been dealing with ER for over 5 years now and they are definitely a top vendor with high quality products which they stand behind 110%

Can't speak for the CP but a recent batch of FMICs for the M235i are total garbage. The end tanks are turned outwards and there is no chance of getting them lined up with the hot or cold side. My tuning shop spoke to ER and they admitted to it being a bad batch but didn't notify any of their vendors.

Bad batches happen with any company. Important thing is that ER admitted there was something wrong and fixed it.

Agreed! They are a stand-up company and offered to help out on the initial labor install. Not 100% of course but enough to show me they care about their customers.

I haven't had any dealings with ER, but I think it's sad that when an auto company recalls a part and everyone screams foul, but when ER offers their sympathy to one guy on the forums everyone is suddenly pro ER. Did ER contact everyone with a CP from that batch? I hope so, but it's likely not the case. If they did, please ignore this post.

Almost all our products are sold through our authorized dealers. Thus, most of the time, we do not have information or direct contact with the end user. A good portion of sales from dealers are dropped shipped from our facility so whenever a warranty issue arises that may affect an entire batch of inventory, it's usually the first few units from that batch. The majority of the inventory would still be at our facility. When this happens, we go back and check every single item to make sure there is no issue. At the same time, we do contact any dealers that have inventory that is affected.

Unfortunately, we are human and we do make mistakes. When a warranty does arise, we do our best to take care of the customer. If we even remotely suspect a problem with the item, we issue a warranty replacement. This warranty applies to all our customers, not just the ones that post on the forums. I am sure those who have had to warranty an item without posting on the forums can attest that we offer the same level of customer care. I believe we do have a good reputation for our warranty and customer care because we really do try to take care of every single customer.

Difference being Auto Companies are usually forced to recall by the Government as they normally don't go out of their way to act (even if they KNOW they have an issue). Evolution Racewerks became aware of a QC issue and on their own accord, immediately made it right for the customer.

I have the ER IC/CP/DP and NONE of them came with poor QC. Bad batches happen...(unsure if they are made in China?)
