[Jet Black Content] The detail from hell...

So, about a month ago I had the bright idea to detail my car, well long story short I asked my uncle who owns a body shop to let me use his air tools and let me have a go. I went on to chemical guys, and got cutting polish, sealant, glaze, and went gung ho. I started on a very cloudy day and thought I did a good job at first...until the sun hit it:

So, like anyone would do, I freaked out and called myself many, many names. I really thought I did the fuckup of all fuckups..

I knew I had to get my car redone, but was scared to ask how much it would be, so I went to my guys in west hampton beach, and spoke to them. They were amazed how bad I fucked up my paint, but they thought they could bring it back to life...

10 hours, 2 days
3 separate compounds with Wolfgang Uber Compound
xx amount of passes with Menzerna Polish
3 passes with Blacklight glaze
other tidbits

So I get a call, and Mark says he was done and to come pick her up

Results:

so as you guys can see, Mark saved my paint...if anyone wants his number, let me know. Also, I know I need new rims.

Oh, and just to rep for the NA guys...if ya'll didnt see my record dyno for an xi N51

and the video if you guys didnt see it

Wow had no idea you could f* it up that bad. You crushed my interest in doing something like this ever. But end result looks amazing. Reminds me of those beer commercials, where the chick is f* up looking and the more beer you drink she turns out to look like Adriana Lima.

lol never detail yourself again! did you use rotary polishers? were the pads dirty or something? if you ever do attempt to detail again make sure you are using random orbit or dual action polisher.

Somebody please tell me what went wrong here. I am about to buy a beginners detailing kit from Zaino and DIY. I don't have a RANDOM orbital sander yet. Going to do the clay and whole bit but have never done anything like this. Always hand washed the car tho. I have read that awesome thread by David.

Haha your post made me laugh. Glad you got it repair and all. Just an FYI, not sure if your splitter is big enough to matter, but based on its angle, you are getting lift. I had the same setup before my mtech bumper and added spacers to get the angle right.

It is angled up, i was told to do that because of the downforce the e90 bumper creates, also this was one way to get rid of most of the space between the bumper and lip

Jet Black is such a soft paint ... similar thing happened to me when a family friend detailed my car, told him NOT to use compound, glad to see how it came out!

Car looks spectacular now.

also, nice numbers for an AWD NA ... I'm assuming that's at the wheels? not bad!!
