JB4 M2 on E30 vs GSR Technik Stage 2 on 91 and Stacked Comparo

We did some interested testing today on the dyno with our most recent N55 F30 customer.

First we did JB4 Map 2 running on E30 ethanol mix vs GSR Technik Stage 2 running on 91 octane.

You can see the benefit of the higher octane, cooler burning fuel on the top end.

Then we compared JB4 Map 2 running on E30 ethanol mix running stock ECU tune against JB4 Map 2 running on E30 ethanol mix running on top of GSR Technik Stage 2 ECU tune.

Thanks, but ...

You used E30 because SO many people are running that? Then you used a stack, again because SO many people are doing that too?

Why not JB4 Map 2 vs GSR? Like for like? The E30 and the stack just muddies the water.

At least for my purposes.

I think it will be more interesting to see if there is any gains comparing GSR vs GSR + JB4,
instead of JB4 vs GSR + JB4..

This was a customer car so we were testing for the customer but we thought it would be nice to share the results with the community. Not necessarily that this is representative of the market.

JB4 Map 2 on E30 should perform better than JB4 Map 2 on 91, assuming the fueling is right so that at least it gives you an some idea of comparison.

One should not run Map 2 on 91 octane. Only Map 1 should be used if the car is going to be run solely on 91 octane.

But yes, E30 is the sweet spot for these cars.

Whats the maximum E-mix a stock N55 can handle in general? E30?

It's not a matter of how much the N55 can "handle." Ethanol is less efficient than gasoline. At increased power levels, these notoriously shitty fuel systems cars simply can't keep up.

With a proper fuel system and tuning, you can run pure E85.

I think he was asking without any upgrades, what's the recommended E- mix.

To answer his question, E30 and run some logs to see how things look.

I ran E35 on my pure stage1 N55 together with meth.

Now i am running E20 with meth on pure stage2 turbo. Around 22-23 psi 5-5.5k rpm my hpfp is maxed.

Allready got fuel-it stage2 lpfp. Awaiting the tbi kit to see if i can up the E to E40 or more and run more boost.

That's the killer with ethanol mixes is the necessary fuel volume required. Not like the old days where we could just upgrade injectors.
