I've got my Helix Match PP82DSP in the same location (friend helped install) and no matter how long and how loud I've played it, I've never had any issues with heat/ventilation.
My friend was actually surprised himself that I've never experienced any thermal shutdowns and it will play for close to 3 hour stretches at a time. Current amp tech in these units look to be very efficient with minimal amounts of heat. |

the dreaded water short out that happens so much. And rear enders. Also a shorter run for power wires. |

Really didn't want to look towards replacing the 82DSP a few years down the road because of a water leak. |

speaking to efficiency, this particular install was for a bass head with jehnert door panels, and 2 Focal KX33 subs in a ported enclosure with the DSP Six feeding a Mosconi AS 300.2 for the subs. I clamped the power supply that we had hooked up to the car and when cranking this bad boy full tilt, it was only pulling 67 amps total for the whole system. previously, with his two rockford amps, the mosconi, and mosconi DSP, he was pulling in excess of 100 amps (maxed out the power supply)

How did you keep the car from rattling?

What is the maximum wattage or current draws before you need to beef up the electrical system . Are those average current measurements or with the sound at an maximum level? |

not sure about upgrading electrical system because of the tight integration of the computers with the stock alternator. i wouldn't worry about it, though. that was at about 80% max volume.

With an XD600/6 installed in the position normally occupied by the OEM HiFi amp, I get occasional FM interference. Have you experienced that before and do you get any interference with the Helix mounted under the trunk floor?

Might as well throw in a cassette deck if you're gonna listen to FM. I didn't spend so much money so that I could listen to high quality FM lol. Haven't had FM in my car for years.

I was just gonna ask for you to install an 8-track player!!!!
Seriously though, I have the Match PP82DSP and I've had no issues with FM reception at all. None with Satellite either. I might be remembering incorrectly, but it was the earlier Class D amps (I believe JL's 600/6 were victims of this) that had issues with radio interference, but by the time these Helix amps were put on the market, that issue is largely gone as far as I've ever seen. |
