Canadian PDI?

I'm getting many different figures for PDI for Canadian dealer delivery, would like to hear from from some other Canadians that have recently purchased or ordered a car.

The numbers I have heard:
The BMW.ca website quotes $1595 in their lease calculation.
A number of other posters in this section have said that the PDI went from $1595 to $1795 in September with the last price change.
I visited a dealer today who quoted me $1995, and told me that was the figure all across Canada since September.

Anyone have any recent figures they can share?

Was it because the dealer included other costs not usually considered as PDI cost like Tire/battery levy, license registration etc.?

Paid $1,695 yesterday in Toronto - PDI is $1,095 and Freight is $600.
$1,995 in Vancouver may reflect additional freight costs?

I ordered mine back in mid November 2005. Before that I went to 3 different dealers to see if there was a difference.

On Nov 10/05 at one dealer Freight/PDI=$1595
Shortly thereafter within a few days it had gone up to $1695 at all 3 dealers.

Currently as of today I know where I ordered my car it is still $1695.

Just on a side note. The Admin fees the individual dealers charge range from $75 to $249 (based on the 3 dealers I went to).

October from BMW of Mississauga - PDI $1295, Freight $400, Admin $195. I believe the dealers buy FOB Whitby, so I consider most of this added profit.

Thanks to all that answered. I think the variations in the current PDI charge ($1695 - $1995) confirm gratemech69er's comment about extra dealer profit. The $400 freight seems to be the same across the country (I guess the folks in Halifax are subsidizing us westerners), so the extra $ are being lumped into the pre-delivery inspection, or else added as a seperate "admin fee" (or both!).

Either way, it's unfortunate that the dealers feel it necessary to insert hidden charges - it doesn't get the sales process off on the right foot, and does not promote an atmosphere of mutual trust.

I agree quickcanuck

I ended up paying $1995 and still paid $395 Admin fee. The dealer said these numbers are non-negotiable on top of the $1500 I already negotiated off the car.

It appears the dealers want to claw their discount back in fees. I guess if the customer is happy because they think they got a discount, it is a win-win.

For me the only way I could look at my deal was in total including my trade-in value and "discount", and based on what I have read here I think I did OK. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who thinks they did way better than average on their total package.

The $395 admin fee is complete BS. $200 would be too much for filling out some forms. Pure profit on top of the markup. They probably have that $395 pre-typed onto the sales contract, right? Looks more "legit" that way...if the sales guy didn't "just write something down", it must be out of his/her control....

Here are all the fees I paid ontop of the purchase price a few weeks ago in Vancouver:

Freight & PDI: $1995
Documentation Service: $125
BC Tire and Levy: $20.00

Nothing marked "admin fee" although that may be the 'documentation service' on my purchase agreement.
I guess it also may depend on if you got BMW financing or not (I did not go through them). The admin fee may be some sort of financing fee ... I know some furniture stores etc charge a financing fee.

The $195 admin fee wasn't a financing fee for me - I paid cash. I forgot Fuel - $20. That was the only item prewritten on the form.

Again, its the total deal that matters.
