Extended Warranty?

Has anyone purchased/consider purchasing extended warranty? What kind of prices have you gotten for the 3 levels?

Don't buy it till the end of your warranty since you'll be paying for something that won't apply and will kick in after the standard mfg warranty is done.

This is what I was quoted from my neighbor that is a finance guy at a local BMW dealership:
Platinum 6yr 100k
$4940
7yr 100k
$6380

He stated that these are $100 over cost. Seems high to me.

I was quoted $6,680 without negotiating for the BMW NA Platinum 7/100. So if your neighbor is to be believed then the dealer only makes $400 from BMW's most expensive warranty. Certainly warrants (pun intended) further investigation.

Thanks for all the reply... I wonder if there's a price difference by region.

I will hold off until nearing end of the original warranty.

Depending on the dealership they will mark up the warranty however, the wiggle room from what you can find on BMW USA is not a whole lot.

Geico insurance has mechanical damage insurance. Your car needs to be <15 months old. It will cost you $200/year. It is for seven years/100,000 miles. You can go online or call them to check it out. I think it is a $250 deductible. The conditions aren't as tight as bmws either.
