Undercarriage wash - where to go?

Hi - does anyone know of a good place in the NOVA area to get the undercarriage washed? After this last snow storm it's entirely caked in salt and chemicals. I had a very bad experience with one of those automatic conveyer systems at the regular car-wash with my 435i (which snagged the lip), so am a bit wary.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Well there is a gas station on Leesburg Pike that has two of those coin operated self wash stations. Though the last couple times I've gone by there has been a line backed up of people so bad you can't even get into the parking lot. It takes $3 in quarters for 5 minutes or so. No timer on it and on one of the selectors you can't it read except for the rinse water setting. Maybe they fixed it now.

I live in a condo and don't have access to water. Since there is no place to self wash in NoVa I decided to just build my own mobile car wash station using a self priming electric pressure washer and a 25 gallon water storage tank that I'll mount to a dolly.

Aren't you worried that by touching the undercarriage you will expose BMW's massive design flaw and destroy your oil cooler?

It also needs to be a 'light touch' facility : )

+1 on the Shell gas station car wash thing, just look around for them in your area. Mine is brushless/auto/wash that has the under carriage wash as well. Good for winter use.

You can spray underneath it with the pressure washer. Really a lot of the car is covered with plastic on the bottom. I usually just hit the wheel wells then the transmission and rear suspension/diff area. Depends on how hard you're willing to work at it.

+1 Just used this place. First full touch less wash I've seen in the area.
