Brand New, bra/no bra?
Do all hwy miles, and about 18k a year. Just picked up my car last night, dealer offered'paint protection... and windshield as well for $2k. What are some good products to protect my M235i alpine white vert?

I don't know much about exterior modifications - what is the black trim piece across the bottom? I assume it offers some protection from road wear?
I always say yes to a bra Edit - ok, so I figured out what that piece is. Last edited by StephanieDiane; 02-19-2015 at 08:42 AM.. |

Dont do it through the dealer but definitely get it done. i recommend full hood as well so you don't have to look at the line in the middle.
As for products genuine 3M is the way to go or xpel. Which any reputable installer will have. I hear clicks and pops all the time on my car but no chips so i figure it must be working. On a white car the damage isnt as noticeable though. Full hood 3M shouldnt cost more than 600 bucks (going off canadian prices) which is why you DONT do it at the dealer. I had no choice as i bought my car off the lot pre installed ffs. |

All highway? 18K? Well you will get the dings, bolts and nuts off flatbed trucks, small rocks thrown up all the time from a passing car.
If you wish to keep car long term, then you will have a fine looking car if you go full front end clip, full bonnet, headlights and mirrors. Don't forget those. The above recco's are great...mine is 3M & done by a trusted pro and worth everrrry cent I spent. I hate a chipped up front end whether its for me to see or to sell later. If you can afford the car, I bet you can afford getting it done now before your first dingy-dang-chippy ...not in a month or two. |

+1. I have first hand experience and it does exactly what he stated above, self heals! At first I didn't really believe it but when I took a rock hit on the front bumper, heard and checked out the gash; and days later couldn't find the damaged area as the Xpel Ultimate closed-up over the gash.

I concur with those suggesting the clear bra. I have Xpel Ultimate on my full hood, front fenders, behind rear wheels, rockers inside and out. The edges are wrapped inside and I put it under the badges so no seams or edges are seen anywhere.
