PIC REQUEST: How do you mount your front plates?

Hi ppl,

My E92 is now scheduled for production and is thinking if I should have the dealer mount the front license plates (I'm in NY, it's required). But I don't want them to drill holes in my bumper if there's another good way to mount it without getting a ticket.

So, how does everyone mount their front plate?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the replies guys!

The plate brackets by Skene Design looks very promising, but does the license plate 'wobble' while driving and create noises? It's only held in place by the bottom 2 screws......

Thanks again!

Sorry, I meant the plates are joined at the bottom of the bracket by 2 screws...would it flex back and forth? or is there a locking mechanism to lock it in position??

The solution

Not sure if it has been mentioned.
#1 Please inform your Sales advisor to not drill the front bumper as this is standard procedure during new car delivery. An email is best in order to have proof of the request.

#2
http://www.gominigo.com/NHLPB-BMW.html

No cutting, welding, drilling 3 min install.
I have this for my mini and the thread patterns are identical.

No Hole Front Plate

The plus side is taking pictures, car shows and whenever you want removing the plate takes 30 seconds. and you just need to replace the cap for a complete stock solution

I can guarantee the threads match up because I own an 07 e92 and a 06 mini cooper. (I have checked)

Help me out here guys!

I live in CA and last time I recieved a ticket for no front plate it was just a fix-it ticket. So its not a big deal due to no cost or points on the record.

So is this the same? Or will you get fined and get points on the record.

If its still just a fix-it ticket, then F it. I will just wait to get caught. But if it is now a fine and can lead to points on the record and $$ then I am slapping those bad boys on!

Thanks in advance!

If you don't take care of your ticket and get it signed off, it will turn into a warrant. And instead of being a $30 fine, it will turn into a $600 bail. Don't mess around with that shit, pay it off!
