Anyone with QUAIFE LSD experience?
Anyone purchased/installed a Quaife LSD? Looks like they are now producing for the 235: http://www.birdsauto.com/news/bmw-m2...p-differential.
This is probably similar to the 135i LSD unit they sold in the past. Doubt I will track much, although I will be driving in the snow. Not sure if LSD will help and $3k for the MPerformance will hurt. But the Quaife could be a good compromise? Thoughts? |

Plenty of quaife experience over in the e90 n54 tech forum.

I have a Quaife from HP Autosport. I ordered it right before the M Perf diff became available.
The good: the Quaife works really well to put the power down without taxing the rear brakes (e-diff stays enabled, but can remain mostly inactive). Yes, I notice the LSD on the street because I'm JB4+FBO+100oct and like corners. I think it's a must-have for autox and track days. There is zero noise (unlike the WaveTrac in my e90, which had a slight whine at highway cruise). The Quaife was cheaper than M Perf parts-wise. Harold gave me a break for being an early adopter and because we had a few delays. The not as good: installation turned out to be a lot more expensive than the M Perf, dealer installed option. Also, I get no credit for it in lease return, so I kept my stock pumpkin. I don't regret paying a bit more. I've heard nightmares about clutch type diffs wearing out after a couple of track days whereas the Quaife should outlast the car. YMMV. Last edited by rwalker; 11-05-2014 at 09:34 PM.. |

I went to a babybmw mini meet yesterday in UK in wet and rainy conditions on country roads or not on a circuit. http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=73906 Attached thread is from UK forum. My comment on 2nd page re Lots of fun and games in terms of traction for some. "Tweeny" was followingme for the most of time yesterday. My car has jb4 stg2 with map6 engaged despite the sh!te conditions and thanks to my Quaife I had no traction issues at all. BP |
