Can the rear silencer be powder coated black? Or would the heat roast the black finish?

The Akra looks like a work of art compared to that exhaust? Not trying to start a war but it doesn't look like fine craftsmanship worth $7k to me. But as long as the OP is happy with his purchase then that's all that will matter in the end. Enjoy the exhaust OP!

Nope - slip fit behind the secondary cats.

This one is semi affordable, around 3k... Still need to add downpipes though, extra grand.

I wouldn't spend more money on some 'work of art' which some only see when unboxed.. This is not something I would worry about when buying an exhaust. The build quality would be more than sufficient for the exhaust to do what is meant to do.
I do however agree that Akra looks good, but what is the point if you never see it when it's under your car?

Looks like the sound isn't the main relevance for an exhaust anymore. And here MPE wins it from Akra (for this particular car).

No, for sure. Everyone has their own standards for exhausts around here. Some want it to cost $1200, some want it to sound like it has open headers, some want knockoffs, some want works of art which may cost more, some want lots of welds, some want OEM aftermarket, some want this sound, some want that sound. It's all a matter of taste, no manufacturer will please everyone around here. That's for sure!

But to me, this exhaust looks like a few guys at Meineke stayed late and put the tubing together and attached it to a decent looking box. Again, just a personal observation. I'm sure I'll be in the minority because so many people are amped up to buy this system because of the sound that very few have heard in person. I hope BMW is making alot of them for the folks here!

Many folks around here would rather have OEM aftermarket for the quality, I assume warranty, and decent sound compared to the other options..

^^ agree, warranty (piece of mind) plays a key roll in BMW price point IMO.

I am excited to finally hear this set up once someone installs it and also does a little review!

Maybe if you get a deal. My CA sent me the brochure which has this exhaust in it.

$4400 for base exhaust
$225 per tip Titanium
$325 per tip Carbon Fiber

I know my dealer will sell it to me at a bit over cost but guessing its still 4k.

I'm kinda happy I have a few months before I place my order... By the time I take delivery, there should be more options available... I understand the whole, let's not complain about a 5k exhaust on your 70k car, but in the end, if I can get the same(or close to it) sound and function for a lower cost, I will.

Ah...

I got a 15% off coupon from my dealer so the whole setup carbon tips included would run me 5300 including tax, pricey but not the end of the world I think.

If/when I do upgrade might look for a dealer out of state with low demand that will give me 20% off and no sales tax
