The car drives like stock with a similar power-band but just has more power everywhere. Alpha-N quote a 90 hp delta from 430 ps base but also said on a Maha dyno a stock M4 gave 453 PS (so a ~70 ps delta in reality). You feel the extra power in the higher gears mostly (3rd onwards) with 3rd gear now pulling like 2nd!! My next job will be the exhaust back-box valves fix (see post on the main forum) as mine rattles like a good'n when cold and when warmed up.

Ordered direct from Alpha-N and cost was ~£550 including postage. Install took 1 hour (first time so took it easy) and needed my girlfriend to help re-installing 2 of the sensor connectors as my hands are too big to manipulate the install. Other than that, car started first time and no engine lights. I noticed the improvement immediately and it got better after a few full bore runs.

I think you'd be nuts to install such a box on the car but good luck Piggy back solutions look like a world of pain in my view. Spacers I would resist also given how well the car corners, I'd expect you'd put a lot of push back into the car with them.
Tinting windows (assume front?) now is brave with the recent changes in the fines (now up to £1000!) Only other mod I have planned is exhaust, hoping the MPE is as good for the F8X as it was for the E9X. On the E9x the best exhaust was the MPE by a mile, pricey but the sound was fantastic. Cheers, Neil.

Install was a bit of a pain in the butt but OK thanks to the small hands of my girlfriend to install 2/3 of the sensors from the tuning box. I've used JB3/4 before on my 135i and install time was similar - that's a piggyback too and is most well known in the BMW tuning community. Of course if BMW find the tuning box the warranty will be effected. You can remove before services though. Mad. |
