Akrapovic exhaust

I was looking into ordering an M4 but my gripe and deal breaker is the sound. It sounds horrible.

The akra exhaust makes it the way it should be but does anyone else think 4.5k for a catback is a bit excessive? http://www.tagmotorsports.com/akrapo...-f80-m3-f82-m4

I mean the previous generation one was like 3000-3500 wasn't it?

The E9X system are the same price pretty much, Akrapovic never had a system for $3,500! Well worth every penny!

I can't justify spending $8k+ for an aftermarket exhaust on a daily driver... NFW. How is it worth it?

E92 Evo system was $6500. New one for F82 is $6700. (you'd have to tack on a diffuser to get it to 8k) Compare that to some of the other titanium options and look at the quality and engineering... Works with the OEM valves too. Sounds amazing. I will be sharing some media of mine soon.

Well I'm not looking at the whole exhaust because then you lose the cats. But just for the catback or previous models would call it the slip on. I can find e92 slip on evo akrapovic for 3500. Hennessy has it cheaper than that even.

What is not clear to me is whether or not the titanium or carbon tips are mandatory. Those alone add over $1500 to the cost of the system. Just the slip on system without any tips is just over 3K. THAT might be worthwhile

Where did you hear it? There's only 2 in the USA, which one did you hear?

+1.

The street systems will be a bit more subtle with the secondary cats still in place. The BMW Safety car clips are NOT how it will sound in person, as those systems are catless.

I would assume not. Those cars are worked. I've heard the MotoGP Safety cars in person several times and you can't replicate those sounds.

Truth! I made the mistake of not waiting for them to release their E92 exhaust and opted for the AC Schnitzer exhaust instead. While I loved my ACS exhaust, I would've rather had the Akrapovic since I have used them on my bikes for ages and they are the best by far. Won't make the same mistake again.

Rockville dealer has an M4. I drove it. It sounds like ass. Everything else is leaps and bounds better than the previous M3 which I had major issue with except the sound. There are more than 2 in the USA go look on autotrader and cars.com.

Will that be an added option? Or we have to buy it and then install it after the fact?

Also its titanium correct? And comes with carbon tips as well too doesn't it?

1. Im guessing you didnt spend a significant amount of time with the car. When the full cold start cycle is complete and the initial rattle is gone, in sport and sport + (valves open), the car sounds good. Not great, but good.

2. I've heard the Akra IRL since I live down the street from TAG and HRE. It sounded amazing, but too pricey for me.

3. I know of many companies who have aftermarket solutions in the works. I wouldnt let the sound worry you whatsoever.

I won't dignify this with an answer.

I think you guys are talking about 2 different things.

He is referring to the sound of the OEM M3/M4.
In regards to there being only 2 - that was in reference to the Akrapovic EVO for the new F80/F82.

Personally, I think stock for stock it sounds better than the E92. The E92 was a lawnmower from the factory. You HAD to put an exhaust on the E92 to hear anything and then it really came alive and gave us the sound we all loved.
