Tuning the F8x
Where is the exhaust that will make this car sound like magic and add 80hp? I will be the first in line.

maybe I am wrong in saying this, but I think most people do not care if the downpipes are illegal and I live in Cali were its illegal. Some do some don't. The car is great from factory but there is always rooms for improvement. You also have to realize this isn't a 335. Two different markets at this point. The car is still new, there is going to be plenty of time for tuning and aftermarket products.

19rwhp from downpipes are appropriate for stock tuning, the gains are similar to the N54 with stock tuning as well. We have yet to see downpipe gains from tunes yet, so I wouldn't discount them.
And I'm with ///M Army in the fact that this car is barely a month old and it's already producing some good results, in fact, results that are inline or even better than the N54 when it was first released.

Where is the exhaust that is smog legal, adds 20+ HP and subtracts 20+ pounds? That is the one I want. I couldn't care less about the sound and I am certainly not going to pay $1K (let alone $3K) unless there is a real performance benefit.

To go further than you see Burger doing would require decoding and unlocking the ECU via a flash. No one has done this and probably no one will. 530-540 rwhp will be it for this car for years until someone does a turbo uograde.

I do know that Vargas already has the turbos on order and should be getting them sometime very soon to begin their development as well. I think the future is bright.

We will see.
I remember how clueless I was when I lived on the East Coast as well. Being here near it now and talking to people directly involved with other companies, as well as working solutions for my personal car. I speak generically so as not to infringe on any local shop/manufacturer R&D. It's not my place to divulge info.

He might, but....Terry is known to push the absolute limits. Look, he's my bud and we race each other all the time and every now and then he blows something up whether it's an engine or trans and just gets it fixed. He does all this R&D to build a better product and it obviously works. But his cars are always faster than his customers cars because he pushes the absolute limit on his. How many other M5's are at 670 wheel with just a tune?
Maybe with pure 100% meth and a higher concentration of e85 he will get some more power out of his F80. But seriously who besides Terry is going to do this? Terry may never release anything as powerful as his test cars to the general public. Why? Because Terry knows that he needs to build in a margin of safety on the products he releases.

I believe things when I see them. I hope it's true and I hope that it is a full flash with access to all tables including fueling a la cobb. That would be extreme and I would be shocked that it happened this quick but I simply not buying it. I question this because it took cobb years to do on an N54 that didn't nearly have this type of encryption. So if Gintani has fully reverse engineered then ECU in 2 months, then I truly am about to have a heart attack. If it's something basic, then nothing to get excited about. I say Gintani because that seems to be the word around the forums, no idea if it's actually true or not.

I just wonder how much overhead the S55 has out of the box anyway? No one really knows, and I understand these things take time but I think the S55 is already in some rare air for an I6.

I wonder the same as well....but if you take a peek at the single turbo or even top mount single turbo N54s, there's some overhead.

I'm sure the S55 engine has plenty of overhead, but the S55 turbos appear to be close to maxed out, if you are talking power up top. There is much more power to be had in the midrange, as BMS's dyno shows, but up top they are struggling to pickup a lot of power.

Everything else aside, terry started having massive issues the moment he crossed 540 WHP. Misfires, engine going super rich and so forth. The only way to fully see what's going on there will be a fully re engineered ECU that allows you to see the fueling tables etc. It was the same problem on the N54 as well, the only other options were running larger turbos with meth and no flash but back then you couldn't do the things you could do after the cobb ap was released.
