Whitelines vs. Blacklines
In case you guys were wondering what Whitelines look like on a AW... TBH, I like the look of the blacklines a lot better. It looks far more aggressive. On the other hand, whitelines are uber rare (or so it seems).
I'm thinking of doing a project with some tinted vinyl - to get that white-strip showing (kind of like the x5 tail light), and make the top of the whitelines darker/smoked... If it looks terrible, I can always just take the film off

i prefer the blacklines. whitelines may look better on a darker colored car rather than AW.

Are whitelines a real OEM part? I thought they were just modded blacklines.

OEM? Technically, no. However, Whitelines are made by HELLA - who makes the 3'series PRE-LCI taillights. I literally just took the bulb portion/backing out of my blacklines and they fit perfectly in the whiteline housing. So, I would consider them "OEM" - even though they're technically not.

yeah, i don't think they look bad, it's just something i'm not used to. could just be too much with AW. then again, i have the DEPO blacklines which are darker than OEM...on my BSM so they appear much darker than they are.

Have you pulled the trigger on this mod? Interested in seeing the outcome. I myself will be doing something similar. More of a DIY blacklines, where I will smoke the bottom portion of the stock tails, and cover the white portion of the top red. Seems like a good idea in my head, but I can just peel it all off if it turns out not to be.

I used VHT Red tail spray. Then shot plasti dip smoke on them to give me a deep red/frosted look.

Had them repainted to cherry red and clear coat for $200. Trouble is after a few washes it turned a bit darker so it didnt get that bright red look in the shade. But in the sun its awesome.
