Invite Bristol Palin and her boyfriend to get down and dirty. No worries about security, cops raiding, etc.

Possibly book a few DJs, as every one has different tastes in music, maybe get a house, trance and D&B DJs or something.
lazer light shows are amazing at raves, if lazers are too expensive to rent, just get other lights, but make sure it looks amazing. Make sure you have a lot of water on hand, bottled or whatever... ravers need water and lots of it. Depending on how big its going to be, you can always pick up a case of zigzags so there are rolling papers on hand, also other little things ravers like, such as vix vapor tubes and hard candy you can suck on.

You need to have a good grasp on how many people you will be having at the event.
1. The total number of people during the night will determine how much redbull/water/etc you will need to buy (and alcohol/mixers if applicable) 2. The number of people who will be inside AT ANY GIVEN TIME will determine things like the size of the dancefloor and seating/lounge area. You want a dancefloor that is large enough to move around on, but wont look empty when you are at capacity (that wont look good) The DJ should be visible from almost everywhere and accessible (if you are taking requests) Parking is vital. You need to have more than enough parking that is ACCESSIBLE. And one thing that I cant stress enough is BATHROOMS!! you dont want massive lines at the bathroom, that is BAD. |

i'm sure your "popular DJ" friend can give help you out with a lot of the details.
#1 concern for your "phat rave" party would be drugs going in and out of the venue. make sure the location is fully permitted and you have all the contracts signed. you don't want to be held liable for some dumb kid that ODs. and you don't want the event being shut down because the venue doesnt have proper liquor/entertainment licenses. those usually apply to underground venues. more than 1 DJ would help. you need a lot of time to advertise/promote. you need to have the right people on your team. simple finance - keep your overhead low since this is your first time hosting a party.
