Driver side master switch no working

Hi,
I have a 2006 BMW 523i and i have a problem with my master switch. I bought the car without it working thinking that the switch just needed to change. I got a another switch but nothing works on the switch not even the button to adjust the side mirrors. The other windows roll up and down fine independently. If i turn on the headlights the switch lights up but that's pretty much all i get. I check the fuse box and i dont see any blown fuse.
I need to find a solution to this problem. Can anyone has had this problem before and cant advised me on what to do.
