Dent - What's it gonna take to fix?

View post on imgur.com

There’s PPF on the car so can’t definitively tell if the paint is trashed.

I’ve never had dents removed so not sure if PDR is an option here, but given my car is going to the shop next week for other damage / paintwork I’m willing to do whatever it will take to get it as close to 100% as possible, regardless of cost.

That looks like an easy fix for a dent wizard store since it’s at the edge and easy access from the wheel well

Thanks, but I’m the type to look hard. I don’t wanna be able to notice it. Ever. Under any circumstances.

Are they that good?

One way to find out.

Believe me...you don't want to start painting body panels. Give PDR a shot and cross you finger. On the bright side, if I had to guess, I'd bet that it's an easy fix.

Start with PDR and go from there.

Not sure how the PPF impacts a repair - but - I’ve had a lot of dents pulled. If they can get behind it - they can fix it relatively easily. Probably a 10 minute job tops.

I had one almost identical from a door ding. They popped it out no problem. There’s sort of a color difference where the door hit now, but they say the paint is fine and it’s the glue in the ppf that’s disturbed.

Not sure how the PPF plays into it but I had PDR on another vehicle without PPF and was absolutely amazed at what they were able to do for a couple hundred bucks! Take it there first

OP you really can't stop yourself from looking at it can you? And from all the pictures you've taken I guess you can't stop taking pictures of it either? That looks like an easy fix for any shop. I wonder if you will be able to stop looking at it once it is corrected?

The PPF will have saved the paint. PPF off, PDR, then reapply PPF, you’ll never know it had been there.

The guys that did mine last week showed me a picture of a Bentley that had been vandalised with a hammer. There were loads of dents all down the wings and sides of the car, but to the owners astonishment, the PPF meant that the paint wasn’t affected.

Did I just go entirely through two separate threads for one dent…?

thats a frozen color right?

well you're screwed if you need to paint it. it will never match the surrounding body panels 100%. how do i know? i got rear ended in my brand new frozen green CS a year ago, and so far they've tried about 6 times to repaint the bumper and it still isn't matching.

so if you're that anal about it, and you want the dent 100% gone, and you repaint, the fact that the panel will look different than the rest will bother you 10 times more than any left over imperfection from PDR.

go with PDR and don't bother with a respray.

Here we go again...

Just get a proper guy do the job.

I had my car resprayed a couple of times and the paint is 100% matching.
You could never tell which part has been resprayed.

depends on the paint. some will be harder than others.

they've had the paint company come out and see what they can do to match it, they've done plenty of things, and it comes out not matching every single time. sure maybe its possible, and you're probably not as picky as some of us, but i can tell you if this guy gets it resprayed, there's a very big chance it will NOT look the same and you cannot say otherwise simply because you found someone that did yours to your liking.

Same color as OP.

I remember that we've discussed this a few months ago, and you were not able to make the difference on resprayed part on my car (based on high quality pics).

My car went in for a new ceramic coating after the respray, and my detailer who is very very manic and picky couldn't tell the difference between resprayed and non-resprayed parts.

Finding the competent guy is key.

I’ve used a PDR guy on a number of our BMW’s (and lesser vehicles) and the results have been nothing short of pure magic. I’ve been amazed at what he has been able to correct. Absolutely zero sign of anything after he’s done.

I’m assuming that now this thread is some 8 weeks or so old, jimmyf90 has either has a such a successful PDR job on his car that he’s been spending the time licking it in appreciation or he’s had a crap job done and committed hari kari.

Pics of the repair please Jimmy.
