Healthy Snacks

Piggy backing off the boiled eggs thread… what healthy snacks are you grabbing lately?

I've been eating bags of sunflower seeds at my sons baseball game, some have alot of salt - but otherwise fairly healthy compared to chips or candy.

Hard boiled eggs obv. Apples + chunky peanut butter (why buy smooth when there's chunky)

Protein bars if I'm really hungry.

I snack on Romaine lettuce, celery sticks, 2-3oz chicken breast, an apple or orange, 1 cup popcorn, maybe a can of tuna every now and then. I keep it very simple and filling by drinking water with whatever I snack on.

Ya, different types of nut mixes. Luckily my sweet tooth is going, partly because companies are getting cheaper using inferior ingredients to save money so their chocolate bars taste worse now.

Is pretzels healthier than chips? I eat those more now. I guess replacing sugar w salty snacks is better.

Wow - that's impressive discipline - I'm guessing you don't have kids at home - because usually - but not always - they are a contributing factor for less healthy options being present.

Went through a big bag of trail mix recently - the kind with raisins and m&m's… Not the healthiest but damn satisfying… particularly sprinkled over greek yogurt.

Popcorn is

I have 9yr old twins who love candy, ice cream, and pretty much everything unhealthy. It's easy for me when I'm at work as I only bring with me the food I want to eat all day. Sometimes I'll grab a handful of chips or have a few of their french fries from the kids at dinner, but I really try to eat healthy 99% of the time. I have Type II diabetes, so if I stray off too much I get really sick. I never liked candy and cakes, and I may have one alcohol drink every six months, if that. I do weigh my proteins and measure my veggies after I cook them.

I'm not a complete health nut though. I don't exercise and I have a cigar every night.

A one cup serving of Smartfood popcorn is not very unhealthy. The entire bag is lol. I'll have some if watching a movie.

Pita chips (or some such thing) and hummus. Usually hummus with roasted red pepper or pine nuts or tapenada. I could sit and eat a pound of premium mixed nuts, but they're baaaaad in amounts measured in anything larger than tablespoons.

Sometimes I splurge and have some cheese and summer sausage. Or a few Triscuits with quartered slices of cheese.

During the day I usually have an apple right after lunch. Love me some Fuji apples.

A smoothie is my go-to midday snack, if you want to qualify a smoothie as a snack. My recipe is one banana, cup of milk, scoop of vanilla organic whey protein, tablespoon of organic honey, and a heaping tablespoon of organic peanut butter. Add a pint of ice, let 'er rip. It's an awesome healthy snack that tides me over until dinner.

Smoothies are snacks imo… I make an epic smoothie every morning - travel with my blender.

Almonds really hurt my stomach - no idea why, but I guess they are tough for me to digest maybe.

I've been into trail mix lately, it's not like a chocolate bar or other empty calorie option.

these are my go-to snacks, as well as raw, unsalted cashews, carrots and hummus.

when i'm craving salty crunch, i go with skinnypop salt & pepper. the key for me eating popcorn is to pour out a serving into a 20-oz cup and put away the bag. if i'm eating from the bag...

From a simplicity standpoint, this! Eating a ton of nuts, etc. will plump you up just as quickly if you consume high quantities.
