Both the father and the daughter shot at deputies. It's absolutely tragic.

I would say questionable, according to this article. As you continue to say, I'll wait until all the facts are in.

"Cops Say Girl Killed in Amber Alert Murder-Kidnap Shootout Fired at Them"
"Local resident Andy Davis indicated to ABC7 on Tuesday that he believed it was Graziano who murdered his daughter, saying, “The man just came down the street shooting. He started shooting in that direction."

I thought they only found one gun? No?

There's a lot going on behind the scenes. That's all I can say since it's an active/ongoing investigation.

Is there any kind of program for officers/former officers/even disgraced former officers to get treatment for any issues they might have after serving? I don't want to go into too much detail in public but if there's something like that I know a guy who could use some help.

There are definitely programs out there. My department, for example, has a full wellness department to deal with everything from depression to drug/alcohol addiction. Most departments offer similar programs.

This guy's no longer with the force but still carries the baggage. I found a hotline for ex-cops, hopefully they can help.

Serious question, but are you guys allowed to claim depression? I know it sounds ridiculous, but I ask, because in the military, this was a big no, no. Someone undergoing depression symptoms, and taking medication for this is/was considered a big risk to fellow airmen (Air Force). A pilot, for example, would be grounded, and his future would be at stake.

We are, but if you have to be strategic about how you word/report it. Certain red flag words will cause them to take your badge and gun, but being strategic will yield better results.

That’s what I thought. It’s practically a “do so at your own peril” response; ie. career ending.

Lots of people get help. You have to understand that depression is linked with suicide, etc., so it's understandable that an LEO's badge and gun are relinquished until the person is cleared. It's a risk management issue.

That is bureaucrat bullshit. Basically, covering their own ass.

I bet damn near every cop has more than one gun. The department can only take the issued gun, so that still leaves the cop with personal guns.

Taking someone's badge and gun is adding insult to injury and probably does more harm than good.

Bureaucratic for sure. The department just wants to reduce their own liability.

So I was just on my page for retired Toronto Police and someone posted this officer involved shooting in Tacoma. The copper (I think Officer Munn) arrives well into it, it sounds like he's listening to a country music station in his car, as he pulls up he puts his Starbucks coffee cup on the dash, exits the vehicle and walks to the back. Takes out his patrol rifle takes aim and drops the suspect with a single shot from 183 yards. Just unbelievably calm. https://www.theblaze.com/news/bodyca...Df7-xXiKz6Bfyk

That was so badass that if it was a movie scene it would be borderline cheesy.

Haha! I just went on YouTube and looked up “Bollywood action scenes”. Guess what I’m doing for the next hour or so…
